Title: Bunk-End Light/Fan from Popup Store
Post by: whitestar505 on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Outstanding!! I had one with me this weekend and it worked itself to death. I set it up using the fan to suck-in warm air from the main part of the trailer to keep the bunk-ends warmer. It worked great!

 Just ordered another..[:)]

whitestar505We like them too.  If it is really hot I put one on the shepherds crook and aim it straight down on the bed.

whitestar505We bought two from the PUT store last season, so that now we have three (one came with the camper).  We hook them up above the galley and each bunk end.  They re great and we don t leave home without them!

whitestar505They work very well at keeping condensation down.  We run them almost every night to circulate the air.

whitestar505We like ours too.  Haven t used the fan part yet but I tried the fan for a second and it was very quiet.  I like that you can turn the light around and point it down if you are reading.

whitestar505Are these identical to the Coleman fan/light combo? It sure looks like it. Two came with our PU and we wanted to get a third to match.

Yep, completely identical other than Coleman s clip is black and mars the shepherd s crook, while PUT s is white and does not.[:D]

whitestar505We love ours too.  During the day we keep one over the table and one over the sink.  It s nice to have a little more light in those places.  Then, when it s hot, we move them to the bunkends at night.

whitestar505If it is really hot at night I clip the fan/light to the shepherds crook so it blows straight down on me.

 what is a shepherds crook?

On the Coleman PUs there is a pole that goes from the ceiling to the bed bow (the pole at the end of the bunkend that forms the shape of the bunk end) and holds the bed bow in place keeping the tenting tight over the bunk end.  The pole looks like a shepherds crook and is often called that.

whitestar505it s interesting to hear everybody rave about them...

I take some plug-in fans and some plug-in lamps that sit on a wooden tray by my head because the bunk-End ones seemed awfully small and how on earth do they give enough light for reading (my head - and therefore my eyes! - are at the end of the mattress) when they re waaaaay up there hanging from the shepherd s crook?

and if you start dozing you have to get up on hands and knees (short arms!) to turn the light off???

 Please enlighten [;)] me.

The light is bright enough to read by.  Some people think that they are too bright.

I just sit up and it is an easy reach to turn off the light.  You can locate the light anywhere along the shepherds crook, so that it is close by.  I don t have to get on my hands and knees

 whitestar505Sandy,

Have you tried one of the Itty Bitty book lights to read by?  I love them because they put the light right where you want it (on the page) and when you re ready to go to sleep it is right there to turn off.  Runs on batteries too for when you dry camp.  I use one at home to read after DH has gone to sleep and keep one in the camper too.

whitestar505tracy must have long arms...coupled with a long torso [;)]

i m 5  0"  and just for the heck of it I ll see what my " reach"  is next time I m lying on the bunk

since i sleep alone most of the time (and have reached the age when that is just fine[8D]) I use my electric plug-in bedside lamps but I do have some itty bitty lights.
