A lot of us hike but one person s definition of hiking may be different from another.  Where do you fit in?

TrlrboyWe are dayhikers, with our love for waterfalls it s unusual for it to be a simple hike.
When it is simple we hit more than one trail in a day.
We ve approached hills that get me saying uh uh, no way, no how.....but DH manages to con me into it every time!  The gift at the end of the trail makes it all worth it, a beautiful waterfall, cool mist and rocks to play on....can t get much better than that!

TrlrboyHIKING!?  WHAT is that!?  I camp to relax!  [;)]  Just kidding!!

We like to take the kids on strolls around the campground looking for the best site for the next trip.  It s always a bonus when we determine the site we re on is the best site for the next trip!

TrlrboyOur hikes are similar to Forestcreatures.  We camp to be near trails we want to take.  Love to have something to hike too, a waterfall or scenic overlook.  My DH also pushes me to my limits and a tad beyond but we love it.

TrlrboyFor us, if we don t have to ask " What s the elevation gain?"  then it s not really a hike.

TrlrboyWe just finished a white water rafting trip down the Grand Canyon.  We hiked out from Phantom Ranch up to the South Rim...10.3 miles, 4000+ feet elevation gain.   <flexing mighty hiking muscles>

TrlrboyOne of our main activities while camping is day hiking; we also backpack. Once upon a time, I could day hike 15-16 miles (over that it was grim, never attempted more than 17). Have fought foot problems for close to a decade. By last year, I d gotten back to the point where I could day hike 7-8 miles, depending on the terrain, elevation gain, etc., while DH is quite capable of 18-20 mile day hikes. I ve been trail walking since the beginning of this year, & am up to 3-5 miles, several times a week. Did a 13 mile day hike a month or so ago, so am hoping to hike to the top of my first Fourteener this year on our trip to CO. In the campground, we walk the loops a couple times a day. Good way to stretch out after supper when we ve hiked during the day.
