Does anyone have experience with dehumidifiers? We need to get one for our lakehouse and don t really know much about them, best brands, features to look for etc....
Gamecock CamperOk, I bought one a week ago and I can tell you it is doing its job very well. The dealer told me to buy a wall meter that can accurately gauge the moisture content of the air and healthy air has less than 50% humidity. The humidity in the lakehouse has gone down from an average of 58% to 40% (great).....
Gamecock CamperWe bought one about 9 or 10 years ago. Consumer Reports was recommending Sears at the time so that s what we got. It was quite efficent at controlling the humidity.
I didn t follow the lubrication instructions prior to operating it the second year and the bearings siezed. I never did get it repaired. Hope you benefit from my experience regarding maintenance.
Gamecock CamperThanks for the " heads up" on maintenance. I looked at the instruction book and warranty material and there is nothing at all about any maintenance at all. I will give the allergy store that I bought mine from to make sure that there isn t anything I need to do. I would guess that there might be sealed bearings in the dehumidifier we bought. I certainly hope so.
