WEEEEHAAAAAW!!!! we are a Club!! Thanks to all those involved in making this happen [:D] Now lets get to some camping planning.
I will be planning several " local" trips this summer I will let you all know when and where, in case you feel the need to camp
Dee4jPlan away my friend. Lets get some rally s planned!!

Dee4jCongrats SCcampers! [:)][:D]

QuoteCongrats SCcampers!
Geez, having that " congrats SCcampers" almost on the same level with " SactoCampers" , I just noticed that it s more like a contraction of Brian s screen name! Perhaps HE should be our Moderator/Webbie, LOL!
Dee4jGot to be careful as us SCCampers sccoot to our rally s.
Dee4jHello folks:
This is my first posting in the Southern California group. I must say that I am always pleased to see the beaches, the palm trees and endless sunshine. That of course is versus Northern California s craggy coastline, redwood trees and misty fog. Can you even believe it s the same state?
Congratulations on having your own club & forum. During my younger days, oh before January 1, 2003, I used to go to the SoCal section to say hi and feel so anonymous. But, having met several of you through " joint" rallies and sharing a " pot" or two of Dutch oven cooking, it is indeed the sister club to Nick-Neff-Cough.
It is good to see PUT continue to grow and in ways that are upredictable and unihibited. Great to know that there will always be rallies NNC ers can go to in the south. And it goes without saying that you folks are always welcome to the NCC rallies.

Hey Surf, thanks for the visit. You ll have to tell TOS that this is the " sister" club. He thinks it s the " brother" club. Now then, has a new club been formed? The " NCC" ? [8D]
Dee4jPatricia:
I haven t had the time to keep up, let alone post that I d forgotten the acronym for NNC. Or, it s ATT or the ealiest signs of Alzheimer s disease. See, today, I just realized that there s a Southern group.
Nonetheless, I still contend that I wouldn t be a member of a club that would have me as a member.
Surfcal
P.S. And I now refuse to edit ala Sactocampers. So, this is the amendment posting to correct my above entry.

Actually, TOS s view is: SCC is the " sister" club. He refers to NNC as the " brother" club.

Definitely ATT! Welcome to the Club... SCC and otherwise!

In that case, you, my dear Surfcal, are
banned from SCCampers! You are NEVER to attend our rallies
(we have a little one coming up in two weeks) or be let into these hallowed portals
(and another one between Christmas and New Year). Is that clear?

Dee4jI like that a LOT.
OK, this is my last posting. I even didn t do a bike ride this morning because I checked into the boards and ended up sitting at the terminal for hours.
So, g bye all for the next couple of days.

The essence of SurfCal is his unpredictability. We did nothing wrong. Dare I say that his unpredicabilty is pretty predictable? I think not; no predicting how he would react.

Yes! He should change his name to TheWeather. He has that same unpredictableness even though many try to predict him.
I predict that he won t change his name.

Banning Surf -Cal, bans a whole lot of us!. Thanks for the warning!

QuoteBanning Surf -Cal, bans a whole lot of us!. Thanks for the warning!
Knowing that otter sometimes forgets her bifocals, I want to make sure that she read SurfCal s post that said that he would never be a member of a club that would allow him to be a member of the club.
Thus it was necessary for us to ban him from SCC so he so he could be a member of SCC---a banned member, but a member no less.

Well, I am quite honored that Otter is honoring the solidarity of the folks from the isle of misfits who
" wouldn t be a member of a group that would have us as a member." Clearly SCC is a group that won t accept us, which means that it is totally an acceptable group to Rabble Rouse.
As Yogi Berra once said, " nobody goes to that restaurant any more, it s too crowded."
Otter, since they won t have us join them, we ll just have to crash one of their rallies, arrive at 3:00 am one morning and strike fear in their hearts, then mess with their neat little SoCal site arrangements with claim jumping, spike their Perriers with Nick s Beer, sink their dainty little Sushi boats with a slab of gnarly tri-tip and sit high up on a tree in protest.
Hail, hail to banned members. Otter, with you by my side, I am in good company.

:::groan!:::
Surf beat me to the board. I was going to say that if his instrument is a trumpet, which he uses to herald his 3a.m. arrivals, he ll not only be a banned member, he ll be a banished banned member!
Oh, and FLIP!
Cottonwooder
Quotea banned member? I didn t even know he played an instrument!
He plays a decent, " sing around the campfire guitar." On time at banned camp...

Welcome Otter....wanna apply for duelly citizenship? You are eligible since you attended the Lake Cachuma Rally. Or would you prefer to be a band-member and we can trumpet your arrival.
" In the middle of the morning late last night,
Two dead men got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
drew their swords and shot each other."
Oh--to have young brain cells again. Haven t thought of that little rhyme since elementary school. Alice, eat your wonderland heart out.

QuoteWelcome Otter....wanna apply for duelly citizenship?
Before we open the doors to our Northern Neighbors, shouldn t we spruce up this place a bit and hold a house warming party? Two different sign-up sheets at the door: one for those wanting dual citizenship, and the other for duel citizenship? (And a separate one for Surfcal absolutely banning him!) [8D]
Seriously, let s hold a chat, break a bottle of champagne on the doorway, and duel... er, um, I mean
party with the Neffers. [:)]

CottonwooderAn Officer and a Gentleman:
Richard Gere might have starred in the blockbuster movie An Officer and A Gentleman, but to know someone in real life with those qualities is an extraordinary thing. Richard Gere, I know Scott Miller and Scott Miller is a friend of mine. You re no Scott Miller.
Congratulations are in order to Gregory Scott Miller, thus GSM (X2 comes from Georgeanne S. Miller). Tomorrow, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, or Miller goes to Sacramento to recieve a prestigious award. Earlier this year, he was named as the Officer of the Year by the California Department of Boating and Waterways for the State of California.
In Sacramento Thursday, May 29th. there is an awards ceremony at the state capital and I wanted to let the NNC and SCC membership to know and wish a warm congratulations and bring recognition to one of our own.
We re not worthy.

Ray--You are too kind and too funny. Thanks for the recognition. Driving up to Sac tomorrow. Going to the Department of Boating and Waterways Commission Meeting in the morning, then heading home. Ironic part of the whole deal is that THIS IS THE YEAR I have been shuffling duties off to others so that I can concentrate on being more relaxed. Glad they didn t wait until next year---I d be pretty well gone by then and ensconced in PopUp stuff with all my VERY WORTHY friends.
Scott
CottonwooderCongratulations again Scott. Have a safe trip up north. See you in a week and a half.
Jacqui
CottonwooderWell done, Scott! We are proud to know you, camp with you, and be your friends[:D]

Wow, this must be what they call a business trip.

" Business Trip" Yeppers. Made some effort to convert this into a business/pleasure trip, but alas it appears on occation " work and home" responsibilities get in the way. But that makes us appreciate words like, " see you in a week and a half" all the more.

CottonwooderHey Scott!
Congrats to our fearless leader! Enjoy your trip.
CottonwooderI have to offer my congrats to Scott also. Well done photographer first class![:D][:D]
We are still in the moving stage. Paula says no more talking about food or camping. She s tired and now has a chest cold. Our son & DIL came down over the long weekend to help. Without them we d be dead meat. I think that we can get the house cleared out this weekend. We are hoping to get it all done so we can go camping a week from Friday to Heart Bar in the SB Mts. It s all dry camping.
Keep those Dutch ovens warm. Found a couple of long lost DO cookbooks while moving. Also think I have about 20 DO cookbooks. Try Boy Scout Shops for DO cookbooks. They usually have a couple of different ones. The Orange County one is about 1-1/2 blocks west of Harbor and there s one in Van Nuys on Sherman Way. I believe there s another one in West LA.
All our best & thanks Lori.
SurfcalWay to go Scott. I d feel safer having you around if I was ever shipwrecked! [8D]
CottonwooderWe just got are first pop-up in March, and we love camping. I would like to get out to one of your rallys some time. We live in Rancho Santa Margarita CA. We have a 3 year old girl and a 2 year old boy.

Hello George:
Glad you stopped by and thank you for your interest in the group. You found a great bunch of folks. Just look at some of the comments from various publications:
" SCC is the most magical and sensational experience since camping began, and mankind has been camping since, well, the dawn of time." Life Magazine " If you re looking to have a mediocre to average time camping, fine, go ahead and do it yourself. But if you want to meet some of the friendliest people on the planet, eat some of the best food north of the equator, all for the price of a campsite, then SCC just might truly be the happiest place on earth. Rolling Stones " Quit your job, sell your house, buy a pop-up and live your dreams. Because once you have a pop-up, you can qualify to join SCC, perhaps the best-kept secret of all leisurely pursuits." Entrepreneur Magazine Need I say more? And I m not even a member of this group.
Surfcal
CottonwooderBoy Surfcal has been working overtime. I m glad I was working in the field and had my boots on![8D][8D]
George welcome to the group. We d welcome having you join us on any of our adventures. Do check out our NorCal groups web site. They are having some trips and they re a lot of fun to be with. There s a big rally in June if you can get away.
CottonwooderCan a guest login from Jackson, CA flip an SCC page???
