Title: Portable A/C
Post by: Joe Gleason on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Has anyone Tried a Portable A/C Unit... The kind that vent the heat out through an air hosse or the Cold in?

There are times when A/C is great... and there are times when you know your just not going to need it...

Any luck on exploring this avenue?

Joe GleasonMy brother has one of these for his house.  Problem with them is they are like de-humidifier and need to drain water somewhere.  They have  a pan built in, but you still need to dump the water every so often.  My brother put his on a dresser high enough next to the window and snaked a hose from the unit to the outside.   All this trouble is why I got the AC on the roof in the first place.  It s there when you need it and out of the way when you don t.  Yes, it s more money, but worth it in my eyes.  We camp a lot in the summer and my husband likes it " chilly"  when sleeping.  He works out in the heat all day long and wants his time off to be comfortable.  I don t blame him.

If we don t need the Air Conditioner I don t turn it on or plug it in.  I like it being in the roof because it is out of the way, I don t have to pack it when we want to use it and it is always there if the weather surprises us.
