Title: I m Curious....
Post by: Starcraft Dad on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
on why they make the inside of the canvas (Vinyl) white and the floors white. (In my Pu s case anyway).  Especially around the door where it gets all the hands on it.  I have to clean around it everytime we go in and out.  Did anyone do a mod or have an idea what we can put on there to make the hand prints go away?

Starcraft DadIf the interior was dark, it would absorb the heat.  That we don t want especially in the summer.

Starcraft DadI thought dark only absorbed the faster then light colour, if it was exposed to light source.

No exposure to sun light, and it will only absorb heat as much as any other light would absorb.

Maybe I am wrong ? Maybe I am right ?

Starcraft DadHersheygirl mad a mod for her camper that could be adapted for your problem.

She took really heavy plastic and put velcro on it and velcro tabs on the door frame and made a " window"  for her screened door to keep AC in and bring in the light and see who was outside.

Could you do this with the canvas? put velcro tabs on heavy plastic (cut to fit ) and on the canvas. Plastic is a lot easier to clean than canvas. and thrown away if need be.

I have seen velcro at Dollar Tree for $1.00/package of squares or rounds.

Starcraft DadWhat a PERFECT idea! I was just complaining this weekend at the campground about not being able to have the light coming through the door when the camper is closed! Velco and plastic...that should be perfect!

This site is just the best!

Starcraft DadI glad our kids are grown, but we have the light interior with white cabinets.  Definitely alot brighter and roomier feeling with the white.  If we would have known we had the option of dark or light, I may have taken the dark because of not showing the dirt, but glad they didn t tell us about the option.  Definitley love the white.

Whereas most popups have white linoeum, my popup has the faux wood linoleum. Disguises the dirt really well and makes the interior feel " warmer."  Can t help you with the vinyl, though, I ve got some dust and hand prints too. Simple green worked pretty good, though you have to make sure you flush the area you cleaned really well with water and not to scrub too hard. I don t have time to do that stuff anymore so I just let it go....[&:]

Starcraft DadI m going to change the linoleum to a medium blue tile.  That should help with stains.  On the other hand my white vinyl canvas gets darker around the door.  I guess I should just chaulk it up to love.  We love to use it even if it sits in the drive.[:D]

Paula I have made the same mod.  It works well, but I think I will change the velcro to solid strips.  The dots leave a small gap where the air can get in/out.  I also think I will put it on the outside of the door so it will be harder for rain to get in.
