Title: Need Salem, Ma area suggestion
Post by: campingeyedoc on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Anyone have a suggestion for a campground in the Salem MA. area? We re camping on the Cape for a week at Nickerson (any opinions?) and had a couple of days to stop at Salem. It looks like Harold Parker is already closed out. We stayed at Wompatuck a couple years ago, but would like to get closer to Salem. I know they used to have a ferry from Boston. Anyone know about that?

campingeyedocThere is camping in Salem.. And it located on Winter Island.. My next suggestion would be to look into the state park located in Salisbury, Massachusetts.

Thanks for the tip on Winter Island.   I never knew it was there.

I have relatives in Marblehead and Salem and I am often in the area.  I can t remember any of them mentioning it.

At one time, I think there was a RV park in Salem but I don t know if it still exists.  I believe it was somewhere near Salem Willows.

campingeyedocHi Bruce, I m back after 3 months.  I agree with Bruce, there is a camp in Salem but I would look elsewhere, many of the sites are in the old parking lot, they just line everyone up.  Salisbury is about 30-40 minutes north and Gloucester has a couple of campfronds which are 20-30 minutes away.
