birolBirol, I am so amazed it arrived so quickly--it was only sent last Wed I thiink. I hope no one asked you for any money to get it!![:@]
I am happy to know it has a good home--it sure was wasted sitting packed away in its little box in our storage attic! I think fate had intended it for you all the time. and the nice thing is that even when you get your popup, this will still be useful[:)]
NightOwlYou can call that guy who told you that it was written as gift all over and give him what he deserves. Don t worry though, I paid them and Got it in safely in my house. I will call their brokerage service today and see if I can have a refund.
It is brand new, it is so shiny and bright :) SInce we had a showing DW didn t let me play with it much. I just admired it and I ahd to put it back in its box and back in the garage, on top of the camping material stash :)
It will be forever used :)

It wasn t marked as gift, even though they told Nightowl they did ....
birolbut why do you have to pay to get a package????

but why do you have to pay to get a package????
I had to pay for the package, because, UPS charges customs brokerage fees when there is actually none. I paid 54 C$ or something close to it. They said, it had a declared value, so Canadian customs charge tax, it is a lie it is their fee for passing it thru the customs. I will keep fighting ! Packages sent by USPS come thru Canada Post (Our usps) and we pay maybe 5 bucks for the same stuff. I never use USPS , they are a rip off company.
Nightowl, please don t feel bad, or get offended. I appreciate the gift and will put it to right use as soon as I get a chance. UPS does this to all Canadians, we hate UPS. [;)]
birolI don t blame you for not liking UPS. If someone mail a package through the US Post Office to Canada do you have to pay a fee?

Not unless Canada customs really apply an import fee. UPS just calls it a brokearge fee, it is a rip off. Doesnot depend on if you paid import taxes or not. It is their handling charge, so they charge the sender they charge the receiver this way. DOuble dipping :(

birolbirol, my significant other was in the high ranks of UPS before retirement. I intend to ask him about that so called fee, tonight! It sounds like a rip off to me. I will let you know what he recommends and who he says to complain to.[:@][: (][>:] The way I enderstand it, UPS charged you $54 (canadian dollars) to receive the package when it would only be $5 Canadian through the post office. Is this correct?
B-flatThru Canada Post it would be either 5 C$ or free.
birolOK, I will let you know what my " expert" has to say....later tonight. UPS is a well respected company around here. Maybe someone made a mistake.

They think of us Canuck people to be ripped off, their usual attitude [&:]. You can t find many Canuck who likes UPS delivering their packages from USA.
B-flatUh-OH. That doesn t sound good at all to me. They are a very well respected company around here. I will pass the comment on to my friends in the upper ranks and let them know they are not earning a good reputation with my Canadian friends and neighbors! That....you can be sure of.

Reality hurts [&:] We prefer Canada Post followed by Fed-EX !
B-flatHere s a possible solution to your problem of having to pay for the " gift" because of the customs clearance fee. Canada must have imposed these rules on UPS before they can deliver. You need to get to the right person within Canada to find out their specific rules. If the sender was assured by her local UPS that there would be no fees for the " gift" then the sender should also take that up with her local folks.....and the center for shipping in the world is located in GA. This might not be what you want to hear but it is a start. Write a few letters that get to the right people and you may find a solution for this problem. Fed-ex probably has the same rules imposed on them, too. It s worth a try. I guess you live and you learn.

Uh oh,
Canada does not impose any fees. these are brokerage fees iposed to the customer by UPS. The did not pay a cent to Canada customs for this. I am sorry but, what you said sounds like the typical UPS stuff they ram down our throats (No offense to you, please do not misunderstand). How come Canada post can deliver it free of any fees, and UPS won t ?
B-flatI have no idea what the rules are in Canada.....if NightOwl was assured there would be no fees for you to receive the gift, then it sounds as though someone made a mistake or didn t know the Canada rules. You have a legitimate complaint, so write a letter to UPS and tell them your story. Find out the Atlanta address from your local UPS center. Try asking for a refund. They may be interested to know the whole story about it being a " gift." Maybe next time, instead of sending a gift, we will all just send money to you.[:D] (wonder if there are some rules about that too???)[8D]
B-flatI do appreciate the gift, and didn t want to make Nightowl feel bad about it. I think what I am trying to say is being misunderstood [&:].
I am compained to UPS about it. Hopefully they will change their ways.
B-flatNo, I understand that you appreicate the gift and what my friend NightOwl did was a gracious act of good ole fashioned Southern Hospitality.......Just put it in writing to the right people at UPS and something will be done. (Well, my guy has been retired about 8 years or more, so stuff has changed in that time frame, I suppose.)
I am joking that we will all send money instead of gifts. LOL![8D][8D][:D]
