Anyone heard from birol? He hasn't been on since the 19th. This is so unusual for him:eek:

He is around. I was unable to get on the new software and he was the only one I was able to contact. He generously intervined on my behalf with PopupTimes asoI could solve my problem and get back on.

The thing is ... I read very fast ... and if I have a short answer to any post, and want to make another post. I have to sit around doing nothing for 30 seconds. How many double posts did we have to punish people into 30 second terms ? You hit submit/post once and you wait. It is that simple. I don't think my BP can take all the waits. It is an unnecessary wait in my opinion.

Snipe will be scheduled for sometime during the 2004 Eastern Rally. That should bring a lot of people to the rally just to join in;)

Birol you have to catch one to find out. :) Don't worry they don't bite, well at least not too often. ;) Catching a snipe and seeing one for the first time is all part of the excitement of the hunt. If you know too much about them ahead of time it isn't as exciting.

I think the 2004 Eastern Rally is a wonderful time for the hunt. I bet there are others that haven't been snipe hunting and they would enjoy it too.

All of the hunts I have been on were catch and release. Birol don't plan on catching them for a meal. :eek:

birol, even large birds are mosly feathers, so it will take quite a few to make a meal.:D I know because I accidentally thought I saw a dead rabbit on the highway but as I got closer it flew right up in front of me and feathers went everywhere. It seems that it was mating time and they had gone to the road for warmth and there was another one with it. Sadly, both of them got hit. I went back to see what it was......:( :eek:

Yes, you're right.....must have the proper hunting attire, birol. These birds are something when the fly up.

I was in Bluebirds once, a long time ago, and we used to fly up every year. Oh, sorry, my memories sometimes intrude into my present day life. Anyway, Birol, you will love the snipe hunt, lots of people get together late at night and go into the woods. No guns or anything are needed, just bags. It's sooooo much fun!!!

Birol, are you trying to make me think that you don't see this as a lot of fun, an evening of laughter and camaraderie, a chance to run around in the woods with your friends, waving a bag around (and trying to be as quiet as possible, by the way)? No snipes will be killed or eaten, the object is just to find and capture them, they go back home safe and sound at the end of the hunt. I'm looking forward to it already. I just know that Nancy and Jeffrey and all the rest of the gang are going to have as much fun doing this as you and I will.

I have been snipe hunting and I do eat things that have been hunted down, but I have never eaten a snipe. Snipe hunting should be catch and release. :)

Could it be that Birol secretly has a fear of birds? Or, maybe he's afraid of hunting them. Wow, wonder if he's afraid of the woods? I guess the only thing left is that maybe he's afraid of us, his good friends. Why would he be afraid of us, or any of those other things? (Since he's been calling us names, I thinks it's us that he's afraid of)

Wiininkie,

I have seen Birol in the woods, so I don't think he is afraid of the woods. :(

He was interested in going hunting so I don't think it is a fear of huntings. :(

Birol has camped with us at the RJ Ranch, so I don't think he is afraid of us, or maybe after camping with us he is afraid of us. :(

I think it is a fear of birds. Did you see the way he reacted when he found out that snipe are birds. Yep it is a fear of birds. :D Now we just have to get him over this fear so he can have a good time with us.

Fine job of deduction, there, and I think you must be right. There are some darned big birds in Canada, I've seen them and they can be very intimidating, so his fear is nothing to sneeze at. (unless he is allergic to feathers) But, if we take him out into the bush and let him practice on some of those big Crows or Ravens he should get over his fear very nicely. Unless one of them should decide to take him home with him, or her, that could get kinda nasty. Maybe we should make him wear a rope, tied to a tree. Then they couldn't get far with him.

Birol I still don't understand what you are talking about. Snipe hunting is real. PA has a hunting season for snipe. Here is a link to a state page that mentions snipe hunting. Check out the 7th paragraph.

Birol why do you keep calling my names??? I am showing you that snipe are real. You really have a fear of birds don't you. Maybe you should start out doing a search for snipe or Wilson's snipe and look at a few pictures. Maybe that would be the best way to get you over this fear of birds you have.
