Hamburger Heaven
1 pound hamburger
3/4 cup chopped celery
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 large can tomatoes
1 can sliced black olives or mushrooms
2 cups wide noodles, uncooked
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Brown hamburger. Add celery, onion, olives or mushrooms and tomatoes.
Bring
to a boil; add noodles. Cover and cook over low heat for 25 minutes.
Add
cheese; cook 5 minutes longer.
This looks really good. 2 questions-(1) is it asking for a 28oz can of tomatoes? Crushed or whole? (2) are the tomatoes drained? I am guessing no because of having to cook the noodles in the pot.
Thank you for the recipe. This would be a fast and easy camping recipe.

Sorry I really don't know, This is how the recipe was given to me and I haven't tried it yet. I would agree that you need the liquid from the tomatoes for the noodles. I would also assume that it is the 28oz can. However, if you are not fond of tomatoes, maybe you could adjust the recipe for a smaller can and check on periodically and add water as needed.
I use the type of tomatoes that best suites you taste. I ususally used crushed as the DD's don't realize that I have used tomatoes. They do not like tomatoes, but love ketchup and as long as they don't see the tomatoes, it's OK.
Thank you, I will give it a try and let you know. My kids don't mind tomatoes but I will try it with a 28 oz crushed and see what happens

I have made a similar recipe and used different types of canned tomatoes. I think the crushed tomatoes work the best.
