Title: Solar Flare
Post by: mike4947 on Oct 31, 2003, 01:14 AM
Looks like the solar flare they prodicted came through. Our phone service was out for several hours, Cable still fuzzy, and my Road Runner connection just came back online.

Guess it's better tha several years ago when parts of eastern Canada had their entire power grid knocked out.

We have 4 cell phones, a satelite dish, and had 2 computers online and didn't notice any problems - thank god

We enjoyed the results of the flare by sitting outside and watching the  Auroras last night. Not very often they are visible here so close to the city lights. I imagine for those away from the city lights they were great.

I thought there might be trouble with my old internet provider that I cancelled tonight but they said their server was overloaded with some spam issues.  Because I have gone to high speed cable, I was cancelling the other server but wanted to get the last of the email off there before midnight.  They were nice enough to let me get the last of it when they had corrected things.

I went to Charter which is actually owned by MSN.   So far their service is great.
