Title: Uh - oh .....
Post by: birol on Nov 02, 2003, 04:41 PM
After working from 2 am till 8 am, I had a healthy breakfast and slept from 10 am to 1 am. It felt soooo god :)

And at 4 pm, I had two healthy (sort of) sandwhiches which I put some Garlin on them while toasting. My pills says not to eat Garlic with it as garlic also decreases BP. But this being just a garlic margarin, and I applied so little, I didn't think it would have any effect at all. Actually since the amrgarine was slightly salted, I thought It would increase. AFter half an hour, I felt lil bit dizzy, and measured my BP. woow a whopping 115/69. It was never below 70, never ever. Maybe I should eat just a tad of garlic before bed or something as there sayd I am getting 125/81-85 and doctor wants it to be lower. I guess I will ask her that too when I meet her. Nope, no chest pain, I was worried last night  carrying all those appers, I was fast, worked hard, and not a peep, weird.

Signed : Mr. B. Fluffington.

birol, remember that a lot of you feeling bad is in your head... you weren't having a lot of problems till the Dr said you had high BP... then you were having some problems.  You most probably had the high BP for a while.

Glad though you are feeling better --- back to your old self:W

I love ya Birol... but you gotta get rid of that blood pressure cuff!!!

I'l bet anything that you are sitting at the computer right now with it on your arm!  How many times a day do you check your pressure?  My guess is at least 10 times a day!  You are making yourself crazy with this!

I am sure that the less you worry about what your blood pressure is, the better your pressure will be.

That was a test for you.  If you checked it and it wasn't your PM check you failed.  Bad, bad Birol.  Now only check 2 times per day, unless your doctor tells you to do different. :J

Your BP changes with everything you do and when you see it changing, you get excited.  Just don't worry -- you will be causing a lot of problems with the worry

I know it changes a lot, within 15 minutes it was 125/71, 115/67, 123/78 ..... 5 minute intervals, so I take them with a grain of salt ........ as Long as I don't see any 145/100's I am happy ......

How about the baked varieties? Or the ones made with Olestra?

Also, several, including Cape Cod have no salt chips.

Those are an option I guess. You won't believe how much salt everything has ..... I had noodle soup yesterday, and I think it raised mt BP. I tasted it afterwards, and it was so salty. I guess that is why the doctor said, you can't eat anything prepared anymore, it has to be fresh and you have to prepare it ..... sigh .... Thanks God, it went down this afternoon ...

Yes, many foods already have a lot of salt.  I am not a fan of salt and rarely add it at the table.  However, when I do eat something with salt already added, it makes me want to drink a lot of water right away.  It's the same way with sugar.  Both salty and sweet foods will really stand out when you cut back on them and than later eat those type foods.  The difference is very distinctive.

Salt content is one of the reasons that we stopped buying canned veggies, etc.   We now eat only fresh or frozen, and it's made a lot of difference.   And the appearance, taste and texture are so much more appealing.   We also switched from the standard condensed soups on the occasions that we do eat canned, to the healthy choice variety.   A few weeks ago, I happened to be served some of the Campbell's chicken noodle soup (condensed) and coudldn't believe the salty flavor.

I quit adding salt to things over 25yrs ago.  I do not add even to water for pasta.  We have a box of salt in the kitchen, that I guess has been around for at least 10 years.

Aren't you worried about the salt from stuff like sub-mix, or prepared roast-beef and stuff like that ? we use them for sandwiches, and I stopped eating them unfortunately ....

There's still plenty of healthy things you can eat without the salt. Prepare your own foods.  Be sure to read the labels of everything you buy. (Last night I almost said for someone to pass me a cold one and some potato chips.;) )

Hey there Birol....

What out on those noodle soups.

They have an average of 7 grams of fat (18% of dailly allowance)for each package (Ramen Noddles)
and the Maruchan Instant Lunch noodle cups have a whopping 15 grams (35% of daily allowance)!  When the noodles are made, the noodles a FRIED and then dehydrated.

Also the sodium content is extrememly high!  Ramen  average is 910 mg (38% of total daily recommended allowance... and this is the percentage of a normal recommended daily allowance, not the allowance for reduced sodium intake diet.)

Maruchan Instant lunch averages 1,120mg.... a whopping 47% of dailly allowance for normal diet!
