Title: Pillsbury dough substitute
Post by: Danusmom on Nov 15, 2003, 03:28 PM
Does anyone know of a good (& healthy) substitute for Pillsbury dough?  A friend & I went to another Pampered Chef party last night.  The recipes look yummy, except for the Pillsbury dough.  Both my friend & I find even their reduced fat version too greasy & too salty.  You sure can't beat the convenience of that "tubular" dough.  I just wish I could find a tastey & healthy substitute.

BTW, a lot of the recipes look like they could be made in the cast iron Dutch oven.

You can try this one.

It's lower in fat but still yummy.  You can also use it for sweet stuff if you follow the variation directions

Do you have a bread machine? We use our bread machine more for making dough then bread. Makes great pizza dough, and I have use it for many Pampered chef recipes too. It works fine, you just need to monitor cooking times and tempatures a little more.
