Would anyone be interested in getting together over the winter? :S Would you be interested in camping in a "modern" cabin with heat and indoor plumbing? :) I looked at PAs modern cabins and thought a trip to Ricketts Glen SP, or to RB Winter SP might work. Families could share a cabin and the cost to make the trip more affordable.

I thought Ricketts Glen might be more central for a get together. If you know of other cabins let us know. Here is a link to the PA Cabins web page.

That sounds like fun. I am up for that. When and where.
I like the sound of it Tracy and will try to do it but can't commit so... if there's room at the last minute, I may try to tag along (most likely without family). Have you ever done this? Can it be done last minute so we're not camping in snow or is that not a problem for you? I think Rickett's Glen is about 2 1/2 hrs from me but not sure. When you first suggested this, I was thinking it would be somewhere down south. Silly me :D

I have never rented one of the cabins, so this would be a new thing for me. You can rent them at the last minute as long as they are not reserved. You can reserve them 11 months to 3 days ahead of time. If it is with in 3 days you contact the park to get a cabin. I will call this week and see if they book up ahead of time to get a better idea. I thought Ricketts Glen would be more central for the group and they have 10 cabins if I remember correctly. If anyone know of a better spot let me know.
PS: The sharing of a cabin is an option. If someone wanted to rent their own cabin they could.

hey I know where this park is!!. Shannon, my middle son graduated from Job Corps there Red Rock, just past the radar covered in a giant socker ball. It is about 3 1/2 hours for me, going through Jim thorpe and Hazleton and not up to Wilkes Barre.
I called the state reservation system and found out that the cabins are very popular at Ricketts Glenn. The are booked until March 5th weekend. They have 5 cabins open then. So what do you guys think and if you are interested and want to share a cabin start talking to each other. :W
We have stayed at several SP cabins (kooser & RG Sp's)
I'd recommend cabin C at RG SP. It has 3 bedrooms one with a queen or double (can't remember which) one with two sets of bunk beds and one with one set of bunk beds. A nice sized living/kitchen/dining room with a couch and two chairs, the dining table has a bench on each side with a chair for each end and a full kitchen & bath.
There's also bear, coon & deer there. Oh yeah and a waterfall or two ;)
I just hope they fixed the knot hole in the knotty pine ceiling where the bat kept coming into the cabin the last night we were there.
There's also a Lodge at Laurel Hill SP I'd like to stay at someday, but at about $1K a week I don't think we'll get there anytime soon.
