Yup... I saw it coming. I knew Birol was serious about calling it quits. I am really bummed that he felt he was being hinted at to take a leave of absense.
I am really irritated now by the board killing post and the # of subscriber post. Not only did they chase away old friends here... Birol, Angel'smom and who knows who else, but now new folks coming in are going to see them and turn tail. We are losing on both ends.... losing old friends and potential new ones. I think those threads should be removed completely. It's not the fluff posts doing the killing.

Oops! Didn't notice I had not been accepting e-mails. I'll fix that
Good idea to make use of the Private Message function to take certain things away from the board. I am already receiving some messages.
WHAT??? Going? Going where? Why? :( Well this stinks.
DON'T DO IT BIROL! Have you personally met anybody at a Rally that's hinted to you to take a "leave of absence"? If not, then DON'T GO! You crack me up and I love it! If you have met them, then tough for them - everybody else here knows how cool you are and since this is the campfire I think you are allowed to "fluff out". :J I know it's hard, but don't take somebody's bad day to heart. We would miss you here. Unless the moderators personally ask you to stop posting "whatever" , then you keep on talking! Nobody seemed to mind your post being off topic when you were filling us in on what was happening in Turkey right after 9-11, where they? (Although that was not considered "fluff") But we all seemed to appreciate it! Keep smilin' Birol! :S

BIROL, i LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Cindy, I dont think you have to worry about Birol leaving--apparently dozens of people have e-mailed HIM begging him to stay, me included. And we're all going to get Nancy-AngelsMom back too, what is a board without some lighthearted Fluff and friendliness. I never could understand all the furor over Fluff on the Campfire Forum--that is what it is for according to Dave's Rules.
There is MUCH MORE fun to be had here by those of us who know how to enjoy this placeand treat each other with respect and affection. And I am going to start having BIG FUN just as soon as Birol explains to me how to get that little wavey, smiley guy into my posts!!

Unforunately Elisa, this is your opinion and only your opinion. Not all of us agree that everyone get's treated with respect here. If they were, Gene and Jeffery wouldn't have been chased off this board by a few posters with some sort of hidden agenda.
BTW, this little exercise that this group did last night to try and bury these posts regarding their antics that they have guilty conscience's about, it isn't going to work because I'm not going anywhere, my voice will be heard, like it or not. And they can high-jack responses to everything I post, I don't really care, but they are proving to every member of this board in doing that just how childish this small cliuqe really is everytime they do it. A complete lack of respect for every reader of this board, and it shows.
I know this post won't get much attention, after all, their are only about 6 people that read this anyway, everyone else has been chased away by the anti-family atmosphere that has been created here by just a few.

I tried to change the thread title the other day to... "He threw me for a loop" with a thumbs up. It seems another quirk of this site is you can't edit the actual thread title but if you look at my first post way up at the top it shows "edit title... He threw me for a loop" I think this inability to change thread title needs to be rectified and I'll post that suggestion at the site issues forum.
I think I saw that Angel'smom is posting again. That's good news!

Sorry to contradict, but it's not just her opinion.

I don't think anyone chased them. They left of their own accord.

Thanks, Cindy. It takes several steps to get the thing working, but once I managed to get all the proper places clicked (and I admit I was flying blind) it all worked just fine and the icon page now pops up each time. Hooray.
:W :S :J (Sorry, I just cant help posting The Indian Chief--hee,hee, he is SO CUTE!)
Isnt it wonderful about AngelsMom coming back. (She's such a gem.) and speaking of good news, how great is it that Debby and her family finally got good treatment and have their trailer back in what sounds like excelllent shap! :D

No problem!
It is great news about Debby! Believe it or not, I would lie in bed at night sometimes thinking about her dilema. I just wish she could mentally put the whole thing behind her and not think about the bad "stuff" she had to go through. It's sad to think that her first memories of her camper are bad.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing--I guess it would be natural to kind of feel like the thing had a curse on it. Maybe she could get Toni to come with some sage and tobacco and "smudge" to bring harmony to it. :) (If I were Catholic I'd try to get my priest to come and bless it the way they do the shrimping fleets when the season opens there on the FL west coast)

I'll bet if enough of us women got together and camped with her the raging female hormones would be enough to drive away any bad spirits hanging around her camper!

GREAT idea! I wonder if it would work with other bad spirits, too? ;) :J

hmmm... ;)
Count me in on the Ladies' campout. I am sure I can add enough to it after going through a separation, impending divorce, moved 2x in 8 months, torn rotor cup in shoulder, ear and sinus problems, ups & downs at work,.....enough to withstand anything. Heck, I should be able to drive out any and all bad spirits. ;) :D
Nancy, with all the bad stuff you have been through and are still experiencing, dont you know this is a golden opportunity to be Mean-Spirited and Grouchy? No one ever had a better excuse. Of course, if you did, then we'd HAVE to smudge! Hmmm, When Toni was here she brought me a beautiful gift of sage and a smudge shell. Maybe I ought to get it out and wave it over my keyboard these days? ;) :J :W
I would seriously love to do a ladies only trip!
Quote from: MommaMiaI would seriously love to do a ladies only trip!
ME TOO! Hey, B-Flat, want to drive down to my place sometime later this winter and we'll hitch up the TM and roll on down to Cindy's. Wont cost you anything but some meals and probably Cindy can find a place for us to all camp together? We might even get some of others like SandyKramer and SLTrawick (of Phil Cr Cheese Chicken fame) to join us.
And, no, Birol, you cant come, I dont care how many times you beg to use the hot tub, but Babette is welcome!
Quote from: MommaMiaI would seriously love to do a ladies only trip!
ME TOO!!!:J
chasd, that's the spirit!;) I know some will be trying to find out the secret location of the ladies only campout! LOL!:J
Quote from: chasd60ME TOO!!!:J
welllll.... ok, but price of admission is a box of Tampax!
Quote from: chasd60ME TOO!!!:J
hey chasd, great to see you-- but isnt that an awful long drive just to spend time with a bunch of people who are still trying to figure out which way to turn the wheel when backing if they want the trailer to cut left? Of course, it WILL be a gathering of some of the best cooks in the universe, so come to think it you might find it worthwhile. Go ahead and bring Birol if you want, he wont eat much since he plans to spend all his time in Cindy's hot tub.
:W
More people will attend this campout than the virtual one, I'm sure. Pretty soon everyone will want to attend.

well, with the popularity of this idea, we will need someone in charge of physical exams to make sure no one turns up in drag (I volunteer to do the exams, but only of people who look really suspicious, heh, heh, heh,.) :D :J  :W

Funny you mention that. I worked at Tambrands a few years ago. One of the company benefits was monthly bag of samples. I have to tell you I was a little unsure of what to say when they asked "what size?".:o

Hey... My DH complains every time I need him to pick up some at the store. I always tell him "At least they know they aren't for you!!!! They may actually take pity on you, knowing what your wife is probably like!"
Ya mean they actually do a "Price check on the Xtra large on Aisle 3?!" :J
Quote from: B-flatYa mean they actually do a "Price check on the Xtra large on Aisle 3?!" :J
You ladies are bad bad bad !!! :p
When DH and I first got together, and had decided that our relationship was "the real thing", I had one final request for a favor from him, just to see how he handled it. His hours at work were much different from mine, so I asked him to please go to the pharmacy and pick up my prescription for birth control pills (yes, this was a very long time ago). I neglected to tell him that my Mother worked at this pharmacy, and would more than likely be at the counter when he asked for them. Later, he said to me in a very tense tone "So, I picked up your pills FROM YOUR MOM!!!" It waspretty funny, but I said calmly, "thank you, honey, I love you." He really couldn't say much else, he walked around muttering under his breath for about a half hour, and I had a hard time getting him to go to the pharmacy for anything at all after that (for years, he never forgot). This is the same sort of 'test' that your man needs to pass to let you know he's the right one, LOL.
