Title: Pdi !!!!!
Post by: birol on Nov 25, 2003, 06:10 AM
Today is the PDI for our new house ! That is Pre Delivery Inspection, to find out stuff which has been messed up by the builder. An inspecter and we will go over the house and see what needs fixed. 1.5 hours excercise, where we get to see the new house first hand  :D  We are hoping DW won't get called for the morning as she wants to be there too .....

Only 12 days before we can move !

All done, 67 items, some of them pretty big too, like a few walls have to be re-shaped, they are pretty warped, but all in all it is a very pretty house , can't wait till we move  :S

Isn't it amazing the stuff they try to get away with?  Our first house was new.  We too had a nice list.  The walls that formed the stairwell to the basement were so far off it made me dizzy to look at them... like I was Alice in Wonderland and I ate a funny cookie and the walls were changing before my eyes. (I think it was actually a mushroom ;)  in the older version we have).

Then there were the shelves in the linen closet.  The support pieces of wood... 1x2s... on either side which the shelf sits on.  A line was marked 24 inches from the floor.  One shelf support was nailed up so the top of the board was at the 24 inch line, but the other side support was nailed so the bottom of the boards was at the 24 inch line.  Then they put the shelf up. The shelf was off 2+ inches from side to side!  I'll never know how they thought that would be acceptable!!!

But anyway...  I'll bet you are so excited!  A new house is so much fun!  But get ready to be really pooped at the end of the day from all the moving and packing and unpacking.  Too bad you won't have a hot tub to soak in like we did!   ;) (Did I mention it came free with our new house?) Devil horns... really need 'em!

And don't forget the old saying..."New house, new baby!"

Nobody said you have a choice in the matter!  It just HAPPENS!  You buy a new house, a new baby comes along!

Birol,
I hope you enjoy your new home and get settled quickly.  Be sure to set up the computer first or you will have terrible withdrawal symptoms...will be enough to drive up the bp.;) :D :J

It will be tricky to have it arranged to be done seamlessly. I think I will have to be offline for quite a few days in between the move.

Shame on you B-Flat!  Isn't moving crazy enought without the added pressure of birth control??   :D   I can picture the blood pressure gauge now! POW! Through the roof!  :D

I can send up a Bluegrass Band to play on your move in day.  Around in the parts where I grew up, in the olden days they had "Bell crowds" where the group waited until everyone went to bed the first night in their new house.  Then, the crowd would ring cow bells while circling the house and get them up out of bed.
