Title: Huntington Beach State Park
Post by: Unregistered on Jan 16, 2004, 08:16 AM
This is one of the hidden jewels in the SC state park system . The park is located about 15 miles from the Myrtle Beach area , it is different than any of the camping areas in the area due to its lot sizes and that it has a historical site inside the park . We have stayed at every camping area at Myrtle Beach and this is the most quiet and peacefull ones we have found . Also the price is the best compared to the other campgrounds . If you like more of the relaxing side of camping , with not as many activities , and the shade from trees this is the campground for you . Any questions please feel free to ask .

I am glad you found some shade here. We camped here last Labor Day and I would never go back. I agree the area/beach is fantastic but I felt like I was camping in a meadow and there was very little shade in our area. I guess I may just be a woods person over beach.

Take Care,
Lisa

I am suprised that you could not find any shade , all off the reservable sites are somewhat shaded . Especially if you have stayed at any of the commercial campgrounds in the area this is the only campground where the lots are so large that you can fit a camper , tent and still have lots of space left . Sorry you did not have a very good trip , but as I say this is one of the only ones in the area with some shade.

Can you tell what your site # was? Do you have a list of other sites that you would recommend?
