Title: Starcraft Travelstar 17ck question
Post by: SactoCampers on Jan 21, 2004, 08:39 PM
If anybody can tell  me how to access the batteries on a Starcraft Travelstark 17ck, I'd be most appreciative :) . They appear to be stored under the floor beneath one of the cabinets but I have no idea how to get to them, disconnect them while in storage, etc.

Maybe other Starcrafts are similar and other owners can help me.

Wish I could help Brian, our batteries are on the tongue.

Beyond calling Startcraft here are a couple yahoo groups that might know, I think you are already a member of the HybridRV group, if not it would be my first suggestion.

Have you looked on the tongue?
That's where the battery was on my popup and my hybrid!!

Or maybe they sold it to you without a battery

I found out there is a compartment for one group 24 battery under one of my cabinets inside my trailer. If I lift it onto the compartment lip and rotate 90 degrees, I can fit two in there, I just can't charge them in there. No propane tanks on the tongue, either. They're hidden behind a panel at the front of the trailer.

The reason they put the batteries on the tongue on most trailers is during charging, these batteries give off toxic and flamable gases.
Is the compartment the battery is stored in ventilated to the outside??
I would not want it ventilated only to the inside of the trailer.

Yes, Kevin it is vented to the outside. But there is only room for one with the ventilation cap on, two without....Hence my comment in the above post that I cannot charge them inside the trailer. I will need to take them out.

Good.
We can't wait to check it out.
Hopefully you will be able to make it to Olema, where we can all check it out.

Cool beans lets see the new Sactomobile!

One of the of the expandables on our list has teh batteries under the nose of the camper on either side of the propane tanks which would make a deep cycle charge a real PITA and for that reason a lone I may drop it off our list.  I don't like the idea of the batteries being hard to get or leaking gases inside the camper either, makes me one nervous Y-Guy.

Very cool looking Brian, I take it Mrs Sacto likes having the extra space too.

Need to find a vinyl lettering person to make new letters that read "SactoCraft"!

How's the layout of the bath in the camper? Does it have plenty of space for someone around 6'tall. I'm leaning toward a hybrid or a small travel trailer.

Very sharp looking trailer. Now with the hard sides you shouldn't hear anyone SNORE anymore.

Hey Sacto,
That is a great looking trailer, how exciting.  I do want to know who did the floor?  So much better than plain linoleum.  Maybe Neff knows someone????

Wha! You've owned the camper a couple weeks and haven't taken it camping yet?  How very un-Nick-Neff-Cough to not have driven it in without telling anyone too.  Next thing I know Brian will be driving a big Chevy 4x4!

The previous owner was a general contractor, so he did the laminate flooring.

I don't know, we haven't taken it out. It appears about the same as the cassette/shower in the popup, only we don't have to worry so much about overspray. I'll let you know as soon as we take it out.
