We're thinking of going to Fort DeSoto the first week of June. Our pop-up does have air-conditioning. What's the camping like there? We've stayed at Hillisborough SP and liked that.

My family and I just got back. We stayed for the weekend and had a blast. If you get one of the even numbered campsites, you're right on the water. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Bring your bikes, the beach is about a mile away. We recommend the north beach as opposed to the east beach, its better for kids and has more beach area. There is great wade fishing at the campgrounds and pier fishing from two piers near the beaches.
