Title: Great Price on a Privacy Shelter
Post by: Diplomat on Mar 22, 2004, 05:33 PM
I keep reading about the Pa Que' shelters but can't get over the price.  I tried rigging a tarp to make a shower enclosure and met with some success.  I found a cheap alternative to the PaQue at http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=77400 (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=77400) Shipping isn't cheap but I got the thing delivered for $27.96.  I can probably find a lot of other things to do with the $100 I saved versus the PaQue.   The thing is a no brainer to set up and seems durable enough for my needs.

We just ordered this one too, it should be here when we get home from work today.  I think it should work just fine for us.

We bought one of these also! It may be a "no brainer" to put up...but it sure took two of us to figure out how to get it back in its cute little zip up bag! LOL

Then, once I FINALLY get it folded up, DH says, "Cool, but would you be able to do it again?"... "Of course," I say......20 minutes later...I did it......... Good grief....I may never take it out of the bag again. LOL... Nah, actually, for the price, you just can't beat it!

We have 2 of these - we use them as changing rooms at dance competitions and occasionally for extra changing space when camping. They are smaller than the PQ one. Ours have held up and are very convenient but each season I have to remind myself how to close them up   . Seems there was a thread last year (or some year) about how to close it; several different methods were offered. Do whatever works and stick with it so it becomes automatic. I like how light they are and how flat they get (easy to store).

The best part was watching my son's face the first time he opened it up!  (Probably wasn't any funnier than MY face the first time I opened it though!)

As forceful as that thing opens up, I'm sure glad I'd read the warnings here!  LOL..I smacked it into the coffee table a few times just trying to fold it up. At least with opening it, I held it way out in front of me and just gave it a little toss. ;)

We purchased one last year after it was found by Suezyque.  She had a nack of finding neat items & good deals.  We really like ours alot.

I started just laying ours flat on the bed when closing down the camper.  It saves having to fold it up each time.  It also fits under the awning at the edge of the camper, so it can be used if it is raining outside.  Very nice to get the portapotty outside!!!

We have one of these too, and just love it.  The only difference between this and PahaQue is that this has no roof.  I hung a small umbrella over mine, but a small tarp would work too.  For the difference in cost, it's well worth it.
We've had fun with opening and closing too, I knocked my poor DDIL down in my living room the day it came.  I couldn't wait to open it and see, so I took it out of the case and it did it's thing.  She just happened to be standing close by.  And I can never remember how I closed it last time, so have to experiment til I get it right.

It came and looks like it will work wonderfully.  We had a struggle getting it back into its bag again.  I kept thinking, "I'm a reasonably smart person, this should be easier".  I can't imagine getting it back in the bag outside and it would probably "beat up" the pop-up doing it inside.  I like whoevers idea it was to just leave it flat on the bed.

That looks pretty nice for the money!  I bought a Coleman shower stall a couple years ago, still in the box but I imagine we will be using it with the porta-potti now that we'll be back to tent camping.

It doesn't have a top either, but it shouldn't be a problem, unless it's raining.
