Title: Looking for Dutch Oven Recipe
Post by: garym053 on Apr 16, 2004, 07:52 PM
Hi! Just rec'd my Lodge 12" 8 Quart Camp Dutch Oven and I'm dreaming of camping!
My wife and I lead a Fellowship Club camping group from our church and I was wondering if you all would be so kind as to share your ideas and recipes for your favorite potluck dish made in a Dutch Oven?
Many thanks!

We have lots of tried and true recipes.  Our DO leader Old Moose and Young Moosette are our fearless DO leaders and have provided us with lots of great recipes.  Some of our favorites are Beef Stroganoff, Lasagna, Peach cobbler, Pineapple upside-down cake and that is just to name a few.  If any of these sound good just e-mail me and I would love to give you the recipes.  You may also be able to go back thru this recipe forum and pick out a lot of them too.Jacqui

We did an appetizer recipe Friday night that should work, but it is on my computer at work. I do not know how your group would respond to beer bread  but here is a recipe I did last weekend in our 8".

3 C Self rising flour
2 T honey or other sweetener-no artificials
1 can or bottle of beer. I prefer dark beer, but any would work-no low/non alcohol beer.

Mix all together and put into a oiled/greased oven- 5 coals on the bottom and 10-12 on top. Cook for 45-50 minutes. Serve warm or cool. It disappears fast.

Thanks!
Moose, If I cook with beer the way I do with wine, this could be interesting!
Thanks for the recipe!.

Another source of DO info (both tips and recipes) is KampersKettle:

They have a DO forum (like this one but not as busy):
