Title: Arrgggghh!!!! Must Go Camping!!!!
Post by: flbuilder on May 04, 2004, 08:40 AM
We just bought our first pop up and, as I'm sure you all know, the camping itch is killing us.  Unfortunately, we must have waited too long to reserve a campsite on Memorial Day weekend.  I checked almost every Florida state park listed on ReserveAmerica.com and found that ONE had available sites.  If anyone knows of a decent place to stay a couple of nights that might have a site (with dogs allowed) available that weekend, anywhere in Florida, PLEASE let us know!!

Can you go during the week?  In NE FLA, Anastasia in St Augustine is nice.  St Andrews in Panama City Beach is great if you are on the panhndle.  In Tampa/St. Pete, Hillsborough River SP is 9 mi NE of Tampa outskirts and Ft Desoto is 10-15 mi SW of St Pete outskirts,  Both are very nice - but be prepared to drive in traffic if you go to that area (we just got back from a week at Hillsborough - almost everything, except Busch Gardens and Lowery Park Zoo were 45-60 minutes away).  We're from Jacksonville - a much smaller, sleepy southern town - by comparison.
