Where in DC will the game be?

Do you need hook ups (elec/water)?

If you do want hookups try Pohick Bay Regional Park which is run by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. This is, in my opinion the hidden gem in DC camping!  Fully wooded sites with electric on every one. Water is available from faucets around the park, so bring a jug to move it.  There is a 7 day limit on camping and no alcohol is allowed in the park (not overtly enforced, keep it in a red cup).  I overlooked this park for a long time, figuring this close to DC is must leave something out.  I must say, I was wrong.  This park is a gem.

Now, if you don't need hookups try Greenbelt National Park. This is as the name implies a National Park which is inside the DC beltway and the only one I have personally camped at. The nice part is it is a wooded oasis very close to DC. The bad thing is that they do not have any hookups. All camping is "DRY". There is a foot path to the closest Metro station, but it is about a mile hike, probably not for the little ones.

Check out my Camping in the Washington DC Area web page for more options.

I do know the game will be at FedEx Field in Landover. My son is a VaTech student also. That makes the Greenbelt Park only about 7 miles away!!!

If you can handle the no-hookup situation, there is a humongous church with a tremendous parking lot that used to have gameday parking there.  You may be able to wrangle a spot there.  I'm sure someone else will remember the name of the church (too much tailgating = fuzzy memories of FedEx Field) and I'll tell ya, it's worth a try!
