Has anyone camped near Great America in Gurnee, IL?? We are looking for an area that is pretty close to the park. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Patrick - Don't know if you got an answer on this - we go to Illinois State Beach State Park in Zion...only about 20 min from Great America, and a decent, good-sized campground right on the lake. And if it matters to you, not real strict like alot of state parks. Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone for your help in this. We decided that the friends we were going to camp with over there couldn't make it. We have opted for Cedar Point, and will be camping over there on Labor Day weekend. We will be staying at Traveland's CAMP-SANDUSKY Cabins & R.V. Resort. If anyone is interested, I will post a review of the amenities for the campground.
If you would like to email me direct, please do so at gorenchan@yahoo.com.
Thanks.

TRY FISH LAKE BEACH IN VOLO ILLINOIS
Quote from: UnregisteredTRY FISH LAKE BEACH IN VOLO ILLINOIS
We went to Fish Lake Beach last year and will never go again. Extemely crowded, sites almost on the road, very loud and not all that clean. It wasn't a pleasant weekend.
In the Spring of 2004 my husband and I spent the night at a campgrounds called Happy Acres Kampgrounds in Bristol, WI on our way up North. Stayed there again on the way home and after only those two visits we now have a "seasonal" site. Being Grandparents with Grandkids from 3 to 13 its hard to keep them all happy at the same time but at Happy Acres it's no problem. This campground is real a family place with something for every age group - even us "old folks".
