Post by: Gone-Camping on Jul 19, 2004, 09:45 PM
I'm considering a fall trip to North Bend COE next to Kerr Dam, has anyone tried this campground and possibly provide some input?

Well...from what I can tell from the pictures it looks very similar to Goose Point..which we both know is a very good thing.  :>     I know a guy who has camped there with a fishing club and said it is very nice.   If you go....take lots of pics. I'd be interested in anywhere as nice as Goose Point!

You've seen my Goose Point page haven't you? If I go, I'll have pictures of EVERYTHING. Those pictures on their website is what got me wondering, this place is only 2 hours from me instead of 5 hours, so it would be a place I could possibly go often. I'm already thinking this is NEXT on the list, and maybe the fall trip will be a prelude to next years Spring Fling?!?! Who knows...

Yep..I've seen your goose point page! It just makes me want to go back there!!!  ;>   I took a ton of pictures when we were there last year too.  The Goose Point Web Page has a map now where you can click and see a pic of most every site.  If this one at Kerr is as good we'd sure be interested to know also! I've heard it's a much busier campground though.  Goose Point was about 5 hours for us too...looks like Kerr would only be a little over three.

I'm definately adding it to the list, will check it out in October probably. If it's even half as nice as Goose Point, I'm going to see how they feel about us holding next April's "Spring Fling" there. I'm also going to check out Rudds Creek COE campground also, smaller, and about 5-10 miles down the road from North Bend.

I have camped at Occoneechee State Park (right next to Rudds Creek) and it's pretty nice too, but the COE campground actually looks much nicer. Guess we'll find out in a few months.

Great! Keep us posted! We still haven't decided where we're going for our fall trip this year...
