we found by using an open sleeping bag on the bottom of the mattress and then using another one on top as a comforter or using an electric blanket works well. WE also use the bunkend cover to keep the heat in , and use a wool blanket on the back wall draped over the inside frame and tucked under the mattress as a second wall keeps the draft off the person sleeping near the outside wall. we use a box/cermic heater sitting on the closed stove to help keep the chill off and keeps the furance from kicking in so much. (set the furance at 60)
if you put a carpet runner on the floor that helps a lot. special on your midnight runs!
but the best thing is snuggling up ;)
We use the following items to keep warm in colder weather:
- We got a heated mattress pad last fall and fell in LOVE. When it comes out of the camper, it goes on our bed at home. DH and I like to sleep when it's cold, but havving just the chill taken out of the bed by the mattress pad is WONDERFUL!
- We use our built in furnace, but we changed out the stock thermostat with a programmable digital one that we picked up cheap at Wal-Mart. THAT was a VERY wise investment.
- We also have a fan on to blow the hot air to the bunk ends.
- We use the Pop-Up Gizmo's bunk end covers to add a bit of insulation as well.
Keeps everything nice and toasty inside.
