Title: Jayco stabilizer "sand pads"??
Post by: sandykayak on Oct 12, 2004, 04:32 PM
Does anyone know where (and what model # I need) I can get the "sand pads" for an '02 Jayco Qwest 8U?

I've been putting the plastic "tiles" (from Camping World) under them until someone told me that I could buy some that would clip onto the stabilizers.

 thanks

My best guess would be that you would need to contact your Jayco dealer.  Most brand specific parts are only distributed throught the dealership networks.

I would check there first and see what the price of them are,  a simple phone call will usually accomplish that.  If the sandpads are really expensive,  maybe they could be made if you have the rescources to do that.

I picked mine up at an aftermarket RV supply for about $8 for a set of 4. They have a bolt that attaches them to the stabilizers and a rubber shock mount. The shock mount keeps them from rattling around while in tow. The dealer wanted over $20 for a set.

The common name for them is "sand pads" and they like the stabilizers are generic. About 98% are made by the folks who make the BAL products so any place you find them they'll fit.

Hey Sandy give these guys a try they have a very wide selection of goodies. I don't recall seeing sand pads but I'll bet if they don't have them in stock they sure can get em and they seem more organized than Camp-Out.

thanks, papaso, i was going to bite the bullet and take my popup there for the bearings/greasing job for $178!!!!!! last weekend, but couldn't make it.  I've been spending beaucoup money lately (the DeWalt drill, the Thule cartop carrier, a hitch cargo carrier) for my drive to Mexico next month.  since I won't be taking the popup, I'm going to leave it for the new year.

They were the ones who didn't have my type at the Ft. Lauderdale show but I was going to ask.

Internet shopping is much easer, faster, and probably cheaper than their prices.  Anyone know an online source?

Can't remember which issue of PUT but there was an article on how to build your own.

yeah, right!!!!  c'mon chas.... single, female, tecnically challenged... I don't think so!  It will be challenge enough to figure out how to "clip" them on.

PS Is there any way one can change the subject heading after it has been posted?  I'd love to change "landing" pads to "sand" pads.

Sandy, you must have an PU dealer in town. Since they are generic and fit just about all the PU stabilzers both swing down and crank down I'm betting any local dealer will have a set hanging around. The Norco industries/BAL site currently does not have a dealer locator page working or a picture of the pads. Figures; the picture and description should show up under accessories.

Sandy, the folks at Norco updated the website and sent me a distributor list. So you can look at the picture on the site to see what your looking for and in Florida www.stagparkway.com (//%22http://www.stagparkway.com/%22)

In Leesburg is an authorized BAL distributor.  Most dealers carry their products but buy through a distributor or wholesaler.

now I'm really confused...the camping world link was for BAL stabilizer pads...and the skagway one is for businesses only and you have to register...

i am looking for sand pads for the Jayco PU itself.  They stabilizers are black.

There's K&K RV supplies about a 30 min drive south from me and a Coleman RV dealer about 60 mins. north.  But I'd rather see a picture
online and not have to drag the trailer around looking for sand pads (thanks to whoever changed the subject line!!)

the dealer I bought the PU from is in Tampa..ab. 6 hours...but I guess I'l call them and see what they have.

I was preferring the $8 knock-offs over the $20 manufacturer's ones.

Sorry, about the bad link, that's the link the Norco rep had on his distributor list for the Florida main distributor. Try this one for a picture: http://www.norcoind.com/bal/index2.htm (//%22http://www.norcoind.com/bal/index2.htm%22) look under accessories.

I don't have sand pads either.  If I could find an inexpensive set I would get them too. :)

Sorry to say these things ain't cheap. When I bought my BAL sand pads ( 6 " diameter) from my PU dealear here in Atlanta, they were $ 34.95  for a set of four. They work great on soft surfaces, but they are expensive. Carrying four blocks of wood to place under the stabilizer legs would work as well.

Some people have found off brands that are not expensive.  If I find them I will  buy them.  The dealers charge way too much for them. :)

well, I guess I'll be eating beans again....

Since nobody could find them at a cheaper price, I went ahead and ordered a set from the dealer.  $24.95  but what really hurts is the $12.95 shipping.  She says the pack weighs 5 lbs.

(the BAL ones at camping world - no photo - are $6.99 each...plus shipping)

thanks for everybody's input.
