Title: Who do you camp with?
Post by: Starryart on Mar 12, 2005, 09:30 PM
Just wondering who and how many people do you like to camp with?
My DH likes to "hide-out" with just our family( me, Dh, and DD) and hates big crowds. Me, I like a small group every once in a while.
What about you?

I guess we do about half with groups; we have 3 trips (so far) planned with TPUC and a week in OH for the "Family Reunion".  Info on the latter is in the Rally section.  I love camping with friends!  And, I also enjoy the quiet week-ends which are more spur of the moment where we just take off to somewhere nearby and veg all week-end.  It's only 3 more weeks to the first trip--I am SO ready to camp!

Well, I voted for solitude... because that's how we mostly camp.  But it's fun to camp with a small group once in a while too!!

I looked for an "all of the above" button because that's how we camp. We've run the whole gamut, quiet solitude with just hubby and I all the way to huge rallies. We enjoyed them all for different reasons.

We camp sometimes by ourselves but prefer to camp with other families.  We usually go to rally's  with SC Campers or Nick Neff Cough.  The kids prefer to go with other families too.

I prefer the larger groups......more brands of beer to choose from!!!!

Less chance of running out of firewood, too!!

Even though I voted in the catagory of large family and friends, we find  we do end up in the catagory of solitude or small amount of family.

It just keeps getting tougher each year to get the group of friends and family all together at the same time.

We have been Vanning for 30+ years now and enjoy it greatly.
Check out some of the pictures from our past national events on //www.vannin.com
And as the incoming Chairman of the Heart of America Van Council I probably will be attending many events in the next 2 years

Hey there phrog -

Thanks for posting that vannin' site.  Until I got my first camper, I camped in vans my entire life.  I have had every body style of Econoline made - although there have been only 4 different ones...  lol  Hard to believe that in 40+ years Ford has only restyled the van 4 times.  I'll be checking out that site now.

None of our friends will camp, and our kids are grown and gone. My DS and one of the two Step Daughter's and her son will camp with us occasionally, but it's usually just DH and me...and it's great! The other SD doesn't want a thing to do with it.   It's fun when the "kids" come with us but it's definitely more relaxing when it's just DH and I!

I love lage groups. If I don't know the campers around me when we arrive I know them when we leave. Unfourtunaly my wife likes solitude. She's not antisocial. She just wants to relax. This is why it is difficult to talk her into the rallies.

We like to camp with just our immediate family. Gives us a chance to spend quality time.

When you go on a group camping trip, you don't have to socialize.  You can do your own thing and join in as little or as much as you like, at least when you camp with COTOC that is how it is.  Tell your wife we really aren't that bad.:)

We usually mix it up a bunch.  We like privacy but then throw in a group trip a year, family trip a year, friend trip a year etc. until the season's over.
