Title: Manitoba Campgrounds
Post by: Ann Hoffman on Jun 16, 2005, 09:55 PM
We are a family of five from Omaha Nebraska and will be traveling to the Winnipeg area this August with another family.  We both have pop ups and children ranging in age from 3 to 11.  We would like to visit the Interlake region, the city of Winnipeg, and the Provincial parks to the east.  In the midwestern USA we find privately owned campgrounds to be nicer than those within the state parks.  Is that true in Manitoba, and if so can anyone give any suggestions or advice about our visit?  We've never been camping in Canada before, and want to make the most of it.  Thanks!  Ann

Manitoba has some really nice campgrounds. In the Interlake my faves are Steeprock Beach and Hecla Island. The town of Gimili is also a nice place to visit.Eastern Manitoba is home to Whiteshell Provincial Park.My favourite iclude Opapiskaw Campground and Nutimik Lake in the northern part of the park. The southern part is busier and a little more crowded.Grand Beach Campground would be fun for the kids and if you do not mind lots of kids then stop in at Lilac Resort east of Winnipeg.Camp at Birds Hill Provincial Park when visiting Winnipeg. Its quiet, safe and lots to do.These links will help or post or pm me for more info:
