Title: Labor Day in Northern Michigan
Post by: Lumberdude on Jul 13, 2005, 10:22 AM
My family of 5 and another family of 4 are looking to go north for Labor Day and would like some opinions and or suggestions for some family freindly, clean and nice surroundings. Kids are 13,8,7,6(2-13 yr. old girls). Looking to be in the area around Mackinac city or there abouts.

Thanks Steve aka LumberDude

There are a few State Parks  up in that area, finding 2 open sites near each other may be a chore for Labor Day weekend. I don't know about the private CGs up there, but there are some.

Here's the link to the MI DNR, you can explore the parks and maybe reserve on line if you find what you want.

We stayed at The Straits State Park, just over the Mac Bridge, two summers ago and loved it.  The park and the bath houses were clean and well patroled.  We had a site with a great view of the bridge.  Only negative we found was that there is no beach, you have to drive about 12 miles to get to a gorgeous beach but well worth the drive.
