We tow with a grand cherokee V-8,and factory tow pack seems to do fine, pulling a 23 ft. trailer and scaling out ,with folks, food and fuel @over 10k.

I think the Jeep Cherokee is only rated to tow 5000lbs, (3000 if equipped with a 5 speed transmission).  Most of the hybrids I have seen are heavier than this.

My Kiwi 23B has an dvwr of 3650 and gvwr of 4950.  I think you will find hybrids that are under five thousand pounds.

I assume the 10k is the weight of the trailer and the cherokee combined.

If you have a V8 with the Class IV tow package, it's rated for 6500 lbs. I know 'cause I just totalled mine. :(
