Title: Need help with a part name
Post by: dotm3 on Aug 24, 2005, 06:30 PM
Hi, we are new to camping and are going on for the first time in our Palomino.
I need to order a part for the camper and don't know the name of it.  I'll describe it and I know you seasoned campers will throw the name right out to me.  Thanks in advance.  OK. here it goes.  It's a pin (not the hitch pin) that goes through the tongue of the camper when it fits over the ball, it's a safety measure that keeps it from coming loose. It has a pin with a wire that slips over it to secure it.  I hope this helps.

I just throw a keyed lock on ours to secure the coupler.  Picked up a keyed one for a couple bucks and I use it when I'm towing (to keep the trailer from coming off) and when I'm storing (to help keep the trailer from walking off).

I did have to drill out the hole just a tiny little bit to get the post of the lock through.  Plus if we ever have to stop somewhere overnight, it'll help keep the trailer from being stolen (the receiver has a lock on it too).
