Maybe we can arrange an in-between rally. It would be cool to meet some of the Az campers. DouglasFamily7 has made it to a SCCampers rally in Temecula so I think they would make it. I know there would be a few SCCampers that would go, We have camping friends in AZ that would show up. There is a CG in Blythe, Ca. right on the Colorado river. Here is a link: http://destinyrv.com/ (//%22http://destinyrv.com/%22) Click on the McIntyre RV Resort for info. We would have to do it before summer because it get hot there. Let's hear some feedback!
We can call it the 1st Annual "Meetin in the Middle Rally"!
Hi Viking,
Would a couple of Newbies from Vegas be welcome? My family and I just got our first PU less than 2 months ago, and we are very much interested in getting out and meeting our fellow Pop-er's. I have been reading and checking out the pics from Campland from this past weekend, and its looks like everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to getting away for a nice week-end trip instead of just and over nighter in Pahrump, NV.............Ed C. :sombraro:

Of course you're invited! Our motto is "The more the Merrier" Let's see if we can generate some interest. I talked to a CG in Blythe today and they are booked until the end of March. So, we'll see what we can do based on who wants to go. Welcome to the boards.
Should like a great idea to us.....our only problem would be when. The campground looks great.
Aaron and I would love to go! This looks like a nice place. How hot do you think it would be in March or April?
Mercedes
Viking,
We would definitely be interested, just say when. The CG in Blythe looks great, and should be halfway for SoCal and AZ.
I will give them a call today to see what info I can get on sites, etc. I do know that in April the average temp is around 85 degrees. There is water there for swimming though. I'll let you all know the situation when I get it.
Ok folks here it is. We can reserve 11 spots together. They are all full hookup (water, sewer, elec.) No cable TV. The sites are all pull thru. They do not have any space until April. If we can do this in the 1st or 2nd weekend in April it will cost each of us $44.00 for Friday-Sunday. I realize it is a long time away but I need some Yes's or No's pretty quick so I can put a hold on the spaces.
As much as I enjoy my SCCampers buddies, we need to try to balance this out with the AZ-U-R people. That is what this is all about.
So far it looks like this:
1. TheViking - SCCampers
2. GrizzlyTaco- Vegas
3. Mercedes1976- SCCampers (& New Fish Squad members)
4. DouglasFamily7- AZ-U-R-pop-ups
5. PopUpMomma- SCCampers (Maybe)
6. Viking's Friend's- Arizona
C'mon Arizona !!!
If you can pin point a definite date would help, but you can count us in. And is that $44.00 dollars a day or for the whole week-end? Forgive me i'm new to this !!HaHa
Sounds like fun!!! Depending when you plan it.
Ok, it is looking like April 7th-9th or 21st-23rd.(My Birthday weekend) are our choices. Give me some feedback on which would work out for you guys best. Whatever weekend the most of us can do will win. Basically it comes down to the weekend before Easter or the weekend after. I can do either but I prefer the 7-9 date.
GrizzlyTaco: Yes, with our rally discount it will be $44.00 for two nights.
*Keep in mind, that price is if we use ALL 11 sites!!!!!
Brian, I vote for 7-9th!
Mercedes
We can't go the weekend of the 7th. It's our William Heise rally. However, I can see if people are willing to change if others want to go.

I wouldn't want to take people away from your camping trip, The thing is I can't have all SCCampers people there and no room for AZ-U-R-Pop-Up people. So with some of them at the William Heise it will help. Bummer you can't be with us but there will be more trips.
We will also be able to attend. Please put us down 3 people. Sounds like a fun time.
Thanks,
The Romeo's
April 7-9 sounds good to us. We're looking forward to our first big outting !!! :sombraro:
We have never attended a "group" camping trip, but think it would be a blast -- put us down!! (2 people/2 dogs) :#
I say the weekend of the 20th...my kids are on spring break 17th-21st
I would extend the trip a few days and see my bro in phoenix
We should be able to make it either weekend, but our preference would be April 21-23rd.
Either one will work for us also. Should be fun.
Mary Romeo
Ok, I'm setting it up for April 7th-9th 2006. Here is where we are with attendee's:
SCCampers
1. TheViking (Wagonmaster)
2. Mercedes1976
3. Jendak760??
AZ-U-R-Pop-Up
4. Davrc4
5. maromeo
6. Azmondays
7. DouglasFamily7
8. Vikings Friends?
Dee4j- I'm putting you down as first on the waiting list should their be one, just in case you can make it.
That leaves three more spots open.
That is good with us. It will be our second outting with our new PU. We're looking forward to meeting everyone and learning a few things about PU camping. :sombraro:
I just heard back from the CG, here's what they wrote.
Hello Brian,
No problem, I have 10 other sites open if you need them, but they are not pull thru, and only have 30 amp and water. I will need to receive a check for the full amount 30 days prior to your arrival in order to hold them.
Jeff
So, Don't send any payments until February or so. There are extra site there if we need them I just don't know where they are until I get the map of the CG from McIntyres. I will try to post it when I get it.
HI Viking, we're new to this, do we pick our site and when the time comes do we send you the money for the site. Might be a silly question to you, but this will only be our second trip, we're still learning !!.............Ed :sombraro:

You got it. As soon as I get the CG map I will try and post a pic of it, then everyone can pick a site. From what I gather the sites are not the optimum rally sites, meaning all 11 sites are in a row instead of horseshoe shaped or in a circle. But, we will survive. I have never seen this place either. I'm flying back to Phoenix tomorrow for Turkey Day. I will be driving back to SoCal on Saturday so I will have to go right by this CG. If I drive back during the day I will stop by and see what it looks like.

you go Brian..the wagonmaster hat fits you well...not as well as your "viking" hat tho ;)
I got some bad news today, My wife told me she wont be getting the days off for the trip anymore. She works at Lady Luck Hotel and Casino as a Vault Cashier, she's been there for 18 years. There's a lady she works with that has been there 30 years and she bumped my wife that week because she is going on a cruise. There are only 4 people that can do that job so we got screwed!!!!!!!!! We wont be able to make the trip now, but please keep us informed of any upcoming trips, we will get to go to one, I promise. This is one of the reasons we bought the PU, so we could get out and see new places and meet new people. Sorry Everyone..........Ed C. :sombraro:
Sounds like fun ... guess I should read other groups' posts more often. :D I might want to join you, but will wait until closer to the date to decide. The other dates won't work? Maybe then GrizzlyTaco & Dee could go, too. (Plus, that's my Spring Break also.) Just a thought! :)
Laura
There may be a good chance that we will have to change the rally to the 21st-23rd. I too have unexpected stuff that happens. I will know more by Monday. I hope those of you that already signed up to go can still make it.
We are also available the 21st to 23rd. Still count on us being there.
Mary Romeo
OOOHH! I might be able to make that, too! It's the last weekend of my spring break -- what a way to end a week off! Keep us posted, Brian. Is there some way to put this on the SCCampers boards, too? Maybe Lori could help us out ...
Laura
That would be great, we could make that one. I 'm looking forward to really getting away from Vegas!!!!!! :sombraro:
Viking, dont take us off the list. We can go if it's the 21-23rd......Thanks,........Ed :sombraro:
if you put it the 21st we can probably go too
Ok People, I'm back from Arizona and yes, we did drive down to McIntyres CG in Blythe on the way home. As much as this sounded like a good time, I really think we may need to Nix this campout. At least at this CG. I took pics, but it won't do the place justice. First off, Our sites are in a nice open grassy area, by open I mean no tree's whatsoever. They are as far from the river as you can get, and, as far from any restrooms as you can get. The restrooms themselves are not up to the standard of what I would call "Clean". Not to mention, those of you who would have to utilize them would have to get in your TV and drive to them. They had a small store that reminded me of pictures I've seen on the news of stores in Russia with all empty shelves. Also, the way this CG is structured, there are people that have permanent trailers set up thoughout the CG. They do have RV sites they say are "at the water", but upon further review, they have Tent sites that are between the RV sites and the river. We also saw quite a few dirtbike riders crusing through, even though their rules state they should not . All in all, we need to come up with a different place or just bag the idea entirely. IMHO this place is not going to fit our needs, so if there are any suggestions let me know.
Brian
TheViking
that's a bummer... Thanks for taking the time to check it out sounds like the Bathrooms are far like at Indian hills
Buckskin Mtn. State Park in Parker is a beatiful spot -- don't know if Parker is central to California vs. AZ though??
From where I am in North San Diego area, it is only an additional 30 or so miles.
Thanks for the info Brian, that doesn't sound too good. We dont have a restroom in our PU and to have to take the TV to the restroom everytime doesn't sound like fun. We'll hook up sometime for some outdoor FUN!!!!!!!!!! Thanks,........Ed :sombraro:
Hi everyone - I'm new to this forum. Saw this thread on "Meetin in the Middle Rally" and thought I would chime in with my 2cents. azmondays talked about Buckskin Mtn. State Park, this is a very nice place right on the river. However, it seems to be used mostly by large motorhomes.. Up the road about 1/2 mile is River Island State Park which is the overflow area for Buckskin. Still right on the river (with launch ramp) but much smaller. The state has been working on it for some time (slowly) and unfortunatly taken out some of the trees and grass. I have camped ther many times in the past but not lately. It is used by smaller campers, PU's and tent campers. It had nice clean bathrooms with showers and an outside sink to wash dishes. I can take a drive down there soon and report back to everyone on what shape it's in now.
To let you know, my wife and I have a 1999 Scamper by Thor. This is not the one everyone knows about. They only made about 900 of these. The factory designed them to use up extra materials they had at the time. It has no sink, stove, heater or AC but lots of room. Just fine for us.
Hope to meet some of you soon
George
Sure, see if they have hookups and such. it also may be a first come first serve situation too, which would be difficult for us to get sites all together. Check it out and let us know.
Hi George.Welcome and thanks for the info. We are looking forward to an updated report.Hope to meet you someday.
Hey Everybody,
I haven't checked in for a while and came upon this thread somewhat late in the game, BUT...
I'll put in a second recommendation for the Buckskin Mountain State Park - "River Island Unit"
We have camped there a couple of times and it is about as nice as you can get in the desert - large areas of grass and some big trees (although not all the sites are shaded). A beach area, boat launch, and restroom with flush toilets and showers.
We haven't been there for more than 2 years, so I don't know about the changes Mr. Campbell spoke of.
Not sure if there are hookups as we were tenting both times we visited. I kind of doubt it.
The picture on the web site is a view of the River Island campground's boat launch and beach:

Too early for me to commit to going but if it works out, we would love to join the group.

Buckskin Mt. interest me. What timeframe are you talking about?
We are in the "Fall back and Punt" zone right now.
