Title: Raining in AR this weekend any suggestions?
Post by: Paiged1 on Apr 26, 2006, 09:06 AM
Hey gang! DH and I are taking the PUP out for the first time this weekend and we have a 60% chance of rain. Any suggestions on staying dry and happy?

We decided to go ahead and go since we will be in the camper and not a tent!!!! We need a break and have decided to take some games and the TV/DVD combo to keep us occupied! It's going to be an awesome weekend just us two!

Let me know if you can think of anything that we need to take or think about just in case!

Paige

I would take some light weight plastic to put over the beds during pop down so they don't get wet from the tenting.  Take some rain coats or umbrellas.  Have a great trip.:)

Do you have an add a room?  That may help you get outside as well, and maybe a large tupperware just outside the door for shoes when you go home and everything else that's wet!

I think hearing the sound of the rain on the pup would be so peaceful...enjoy your trip!

Paige, we're just North of you in SW MO and will likely be stuck all weekend in the same system. The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is keeping the bunks dry when setting up and down.

Tracy's idea of a plastic drop cloth over the beds seems like a winner, and I'll likely do a little in-garage setup tonight to make this happen. With any luck, Sunday afternoon will be free from rain and conducive to drying everything out.

Between the PUP, awning and 10x14 screen room, we should be covered for what could end up being three inches over the weekend. I'd consider staying home if it wasn't for the fact that my worst days camping are far and beyond better than my best day of working around the house on weekends.

Good luck!

Dana

I agree with you Pitpop..It is suppose to rain here in Illinois too. We need the rain as 5 in short this yr so far.  I know we will be snug as a bug in our pup but would like to get some fishing and bike riding in..Guess I had better drag out the rain gear...Happy Camping and we can all hear how our weekend went next week...lol

We are in IL also and I am packing things now to load when DH returns from playing golf.  I know it wouldn't be much of a problem camping in the rain for the two of us but we are taking our DGD who is not quite 3.  We have toys, movies, snacks, etc but I am afraid she won't tire out and sleep as well being cooped up.  DH would like to cancel but I really want to go.  We will only be about 30 min from home so if it gets to bad we could just pack up.  Hope all of you have a fun wknd even if it rains.  I will be looking forward to your stories nxt wk.

Looks like a change in plans for my group. The weekend forecast worsened considerably overnight, and now calls for severe thunderstorms all night and all day tomorrow with chance for major flooding and tornadic activity. Turns out SW MO is right in the center of this weekend's maelstrom.

Pass.

Pushing the reservations to next weekend and hoping for more manageable weather. With any luck, a brown pop or seven during the NFL draft tomorrow will lessen the sting of staying home.

Probably not, but I'll shall try all the same.

Be safe.
