I got mine at Sportsman's Warehouse, but I think Sprawl-Mart carries them as well.

They are great fun.  I make pizza with mine.

Just about any *-mart or sporting goods store with any camping equipment will have one version or another.

We bought ours thru Cabelas.  There are 2 kinds.  Cast iron and aluminum.  I would recommend the cast iron ones.   The cast iron cooks more even and is easier to clean up.

You can cook almost anything in a pie iron.  My families favorite is fruit pies.  But you can make pizzas, grilled cheese, grilled sandwiches.  Basically anything good sandwiched between bread can be cooked in a pie iron.

Got mine through REI's catalog.  If you order online & have it delivered to the nearest store there's no shipping charge.  Haven't used mine yet, but plan on getting them seasoned & ready for Oceanside in a week ...  :)

Would I be correct in thinking that a cast iron pie iron needs to be seasoned, just like a dutch oven?

I also would recommend cast iron because the aluminum ones melt...been there, done that.....as for what to cook anyone ever cook a hamburger in one?  I have and they are not too bad, but my favorite are the pizza pies

Seasoned? Yah you can, but we just butter the bread a little heavy until the irons look like they've been burnt to a crisp...LOL

They also work just great on an outdoor gas grill for folks who can't wait for a campfire.

We're going to look for them today. Don't know how to make anything in them. Anyone wish to share their pizza recipe?  My daughter would love it.

 Hi Ed,
Camping World has them online so they should have them in store.  They call them a square sandwich cooker.

I bought the Rome brand pie irons because they have longer handles than some of the cheaper ones out there and they came with a little recipe booklet. I have the teflon coated aluminum ones and have had no problem with them melting as others have said, although I usually only cook my food until it is done and not burned to a crisp so maybe that is why I have not melted them LOL.

We use ours on our Roadtrip Grill and on the stove at home. We have 3 types from Rome and love them. The cast iron ones need to be seasoned just like a Dutch oven. Looking forward to grilled tuna and tomato soup. Yum

We got our Rome cast iron pie iron at Dick's Sporting Goods.  I see from their website that they have one in Henderson, maybe not too far from you.  We really like ours and found plenty of recipes on the internet.
