Title: Leaving Tonight for RMNP
Post by: Brantime on Jun 29, 2006, 09:40 AM
Just wanted to take a moment to say good camping to the group this summer!

We leave tonight (3:00 AM) for our 17 hour drive to the Rocky Mountain National Park and some cooler weather!

We have reservations at Glacier Basin Campgroup, in the Park, for 6 nights...should be alot of fun!

Estes Park puts on a great show for the fourth (all week) full of music and events.

This will be our longest trip with our 1976 Coleman Gettsburg. I am having new tires put on and the bearings packed as I write this...

17 hour trip and the first 11 hours will be in my home state, lol!

Camp more and enjoy your time away!

Have fun Brantime, I will be here in Austin 'enjoying' the heat :)

When people talk about it being hard to leave Texas, they are not just talking about how much they love it, it is also a comment on the fact that it often takes a day of hard driving and several tanks of gas just to get to a border :D

This is true.  We drove across Texas once.  Took a day and a half, from Texarcana to Carlsbad, NM.

'Tis true what they say:

The sun is rizz,
and the sun is set,
and we ain't out
of Texas YET!

Have a great time! We were there last weekend...days in the 70's, nights, well, the heater came on several times.
Know what you mean about Texas...we're from Austin. Moved here to get out of the heat...permanently!

Have a great time and enjoy the cooler weather! What a joy to take off and go (no matter how long it takes to get out of Texas!) We'll be thinkin' about you.
