Title: Awning ripped from mounting strip - FIX???
Post by: md_reeves on Oct 07, 2006, 10:44 PM
I have a 2000 Coleman Santa Fe.  This past weekend the awning came away from the camper.  There was some wind, but nothing very strong.

The awning is held on by a plastic strip that mounts in a channel on the ABS roof.  It looks like the thread that attached the awning to the plastic strip has become broken.  All that I see is broken thread.

My question is this, can it be fixed or do I need a new awning at around 200$.  I have seen a crank out awning like you see on bigger rigs for around $350, but I do not knwo how that would hold up vs.  what we had.

I am some what handy in that I removed our toy sink and put in a deep 19" sink with a real faucet.

Look in the yellow pages for a canvas and awning shop in your area. They can resew the plastic strip and make any repairs that might be needed. This will be alot cheaper than buying a new awning....
