Post by: dcampbell1969 on Oct 09, 2006, 02:37 PM
looking for some places in the area without swimming pools, game rooms, and all that.  In the mountain region.  Getting a new PU.  Want to get some fall camping in and enjoy nature.

We are going to Little River Village this weekend. One of our favorite places, especially when we can get a river site. Didn't this coming weekend, but got a woods site.

Monte Sano State Park  in north Alabama is a favorite for campers who want woods, hiking trails and quiet.  We actually live on Monte Sano but took our newly acquired pop up over there last weekend for a trial run. We enjoyed it so much we will be going back all year long whenever the mood strikes.  Best wishes, D

Have you ever been to James H "Sloppy" Floyd?  It's in Summerville, near Rome.  Very small (25 sites), but very pretty.  Has a lake at the bottom of the hill for fishing.  Check it out!!

Wow, that was an old post.  Actually we ended up at Black Rock Mountain for that trip.  I've got Cloudland Canyon scheduled for the fall.  I may work in Sloppy Floyd next year.  I do like the smaller campgrounds in a way.  Depends on the purpose for the trip and who is going or really not going!

Indian Boundary in the mountains of TN would fit your description.  Nice shaded sites, A large lake (3.5 miles around), nice beach.  most sites have electric.  There is hot showers and very peaceful.  Cell phones get no coverage.  You can book through reserveamerica.com.
