 dee106Looking good!

Anyone with a camping web site featuring info on your hybrid should join the Hybrid WebRing. Just something I started to get a list of hybrid sites going. (similar to the PopUp WebRing)

pirpcamperJust curious.....for all of those who have traded in there pu for a hybrid.....do you get a good deal or do you loose alot of money by trading instead of selling it yourself? Also, how does the financing go...how much do you have to put down and how long can you finance it for? Whats the oldest pu that has been traded in? Thanks for any info!

Foxyladieswell we bought our SC pu in 2000 for 9000.00, fully loaded,we trade it in for 7000.00 and bought 2003 SC fully load. We didn t have to put anything down, because of the trade in, and we financed it for ten years.

one dealer was only giving 4000.00 on a trade in, [: (] another said 5000 max[: (] and his hybrids were more money, we found a place in NH and they gave us 7000 on the trade un-seen, and another 1000.00 off if we bought the 2003 that weekend, because they were having a 1000.00 off sale on all 03 models that weekend, so really we saved 8000.00   so we went on vacation with a pu and came home with a hybrid!
the highest offer we got for the pu on -line was 4000.00 and i knew if i waited and wheeled and deal i could do better and we did![:D]

 pirpcamperFoxyladies...

I m not trading my PU in, I ve got it listed for sale. I knew from the gitgo that I d get more money out of it by selling it for close to full retail. And if I can get what I m asking (very reasonably priced) I can then take that money and pay-off the note on my Jeep (2 years left on that loan).

As for financing, I took a rather unconventional direction. Instead of using RV financing, I went to the Credit Union where I do my banking at. They approved me for a loan based on 100% of the trailers retail/MSRP value. That being said, the trailer MSRP is a little over $16,000, but I m buying it from rvwholesalers for $12.600... The credit union said I could borrow the full $16k against it, and use the extra money to pay-off the PU and my laptop. The only thing the Credit Union insist that I pay out of pocket is the TT&T....[:D][:D][:D]

Oh, and this note is for only 5 years at 7.49%. The payment is about $5 per month higher than the Jeep payment, but since I m going to pay-off the Jeep with money I get from the PU, and won t have a payment to Gateway anymore, I ll come out paying about $50 per month less than what I m paying right now. It just makes sense for me to do this![;)]

While the Credit Union didn t require me to pay a down payment, the dealer needed one to place the order for custom build. But it was minimal ($250) and will be applied to title fee etc... I just put it on my Visa card!

I suppose I ll miss the PU...[:(] (For a while anyway), but I know I ll enjoy the Hybrid just as much, perhaps more so!

QuoteLooking forward to popping out with out getting pooped out

What we hove found is that it is easier if you are tired or if leaving very very early.

If tired when arrived, plug up and put out what you have to to get the dinette(s) into beds and go to sleep.

We also pack up/hitch up the night before (on long trips) and leave the coolers out, and trailer plugged in (water disconnected night before). I like to leave before dawn when traveling any long distance, when I wake up, use the bath house, unplug the trailer and throw the coolers in the trailer, lock up and roll. Wonderful to get on the roads before they get crowded. Of course, there is only 3 of us (sometimes less)

We just purchased an 03 Jayco 23B.

Traded in the 98 Mesa.

It was very interesting to see how these dealer's worked the prices.  I got trade-in values of 2500 to 7000 for the Mesa.

For various hybrids, I got quotes of 11,000 to 12,900 and the Mesa for the new Hybrid.  All were equipped approximately the same and ranged from 19 to 23 footers.   Dealer prices ranged from 13,500 to almost 19,000 for the units.  These are the prices the dealer gave me when I asked what the price was before talking trade.  None offered to show me an invoice.  None had the prices marked on the hybrids.

Dealer is going to install w/d hitch, sway bar and controller.  I pay the parts and he is paying the labor.  So I will save about 150 in labor.

A couple of other dealers said they would install a controller for free but I would have to pay 5 to 6 hundred for the w/d hitch.  Sway bar was not mentioned by other dealers.

I actually got the same 23b for 1700 less than what another dealer had quoted me.

The other closest quote I got was for an 03 Bantam 19 foot. That was 11,600 plus the Mesa.

Another selling point for me is that the dealer is only about 30 miles away and I had purchased a 90 Jayco from them years ago.  Still a family owned and operated business.
