Flower Festival Weekend at Flying Flags, June 22-25, 2007
**THIS IS THE PISMO REPLACEMENT RALLY**
All Rally info will be posted and updated here in this first post so be sure to check back often.
The official rally dates are
Friday, June 22, through Monday, June 25, 2007.
I have reserved 30 sites at Flying Flags in Buellton, CA, which is North of Santa Barbara and near Solvang. This is the same cg as the President's Day Rally in February. Unfortunately, Pismo has become less and less willing to work with our large group over the last couple of years, so this was the best cg that could accommodate us, was willing to work with us, and was still somewhat centrally located.
If you go to the Flying Flags Web site (//%22http://flyingflags.com/%22), click on the facilities map. We will be in the premium sites somewhere around 6th, 7th, and 8th streets (in red). This was what they had left that could accommodate all of us. I do not yet know in which specific sites they will be putting us. The group reservation gal also couldn't give me a price yet since we
Let me be the first to jump on board!

Thanks, Lori! It'll be a GREAT way to start the summer!

Looks like my fears about having to :tent: at Doheny can be laid to rest. We got the call this morning--our HTT is in. We'll do our PDI on Wednesday, hitch 'er up, bring 'er home and load 'er back up. Dang, I had a lot of "stuff" in the pop up!!! I want it out of the garage!
I'm looking forward to camping this weekend, even though it's going to be cold as all get out--and no hook ups! :yikes: Can't wait to see ya, sistuh! As well as Moose, Moosette, Laura and Jed too!
Count us in!! 2 Adults (although sometimes I beg to differ) and 2 Children.
:-)
Lisa
Put us down for 2A &3 kids.

Yipee for you!!! I did my PDI (walk-through?) today -- all works like a charm, but the furnace needed to run a bit to get the new furnace smell out (it was downright smokey for a minute!).
What scares the bejeezus out of me is the whole hitching up process. Lordy, there's LOTS to remember with the WD hitch, sway control, and who knows what else! If the site's long enough I might just leave the whole thing hooked up all weekend.
Looking forward to next weekend, you all!

I'm right there with you Estelle! We'll miss out during Feb., but we can make up for it big time in June!:D
At the Southern California dutch oven gathering this past weekend, they had a raffle, which was fun even though Dee seemed to win everything and Moose, Laura, JimQ, Dave, and I didn''t win anything!;)
But it got me to thinking...it would be fun to have a raffle at our June rally. I've already started to get some donations for the raffle. Dave and I thought we could use the money generated from the raffle to purchase a projection system for our rallies, like we had at Temecula last year.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know what's in the works...

It would be great if someone would donate a fancy-schmancy Mair Dutch Oven lid lifter! I think I know someone who has a new unused one.
Also I'm not 100% but could you put us on the list?

I'm hoping she'll actually learn to use that fancy schmancy lid lifter, but you raise a good point, Jim. If anyone would like to donate items for the raffle, you are more than welcome to do so, but please remember, this is a raffle, not a yard sale.:)

Quote from: Dee4jyou need $55.00 now? do you prefer it mailed to you or can I give it to you Prez. weekend?
Prez weekend is fine. I need to give you a check too Be sure to bring Kevin to the rally so he can do my math for me. Math is why I went to law school.

Math was one of the main reasons why I decided NOT to continue and finish my engineering degree :(
Count us in on this rally, too. Sounds exciting.
We are 2 adults and 2 children, currently. But I think that could grow to 3 adults, and 4 children.
Bonnie
Lori, please include us (2A) in this rally...i'll give you the $55.00 on Prez weekend

Thanks Karen!!! Tell Wes Hi and Darby too!
We had a great time at Flying Flags this weekend so I was excited to come again. Unfortunately it looks likely that we'll have to pull out.
OTOH I may yet convince Kristi that camping 3/4 mile from the Mosby tasting room is worth giving up South Coast Rep. tickets.
Jim
We had a great time President's day weekend - so please include us as well.

Hi Griffsmom and Griffsdad,
We would love to go to the rally, but have not quite found our trailer yet. Does anyone know of a good rental place just in case time runs out prior to June?
Yes...we are back on this site. Would love to be part of the group again.
Thx, Jamesdad

hello Jamesdad, check out
ALLTENTS for rentals, they are located in Ventura and are easy off/on to the freeway not to mention on your way to FF. ;)
Thanks for the "ALL TENT" rental site. I looked at it and sounds great, We are specifically looking for a hybrid. We also live in Bakersfield, unfortunately Ventura is not on the way to FF. Thanks for the info, Hopefully we will own by June. We just sold a fifth wheel and a tent trailer in the last year, hoping for the rebound quickly. Anybody out there, we are looking for a 19 foot hybrid, possibly 21 foot, any year, must be very clean. Looking at spending no more than $7,500.
Thanks again.

Don't know if you have one in your area, but the local Sport Chalet rents tents. Might give them a call if there's one nearby.
Laura
Due to my sons new and upcoming High School Schedule We will be returning on Sunday July 1st instead of Mon July 2nd :%
Hi Bob (from Bakersfield)
Got your message, sorry ofr the delay, I am still trying to thumb my way through the site.
We are looking for a trailer, but were a tent trailer memeber a few years back.
We are at Jenkins and Stockdale.
Talk to you soon. Looking forward to meet everyone and have some fun.
Jamesdad
Lori,
We were wondering if we could arrive 0ne day sooner and leave one day later. It is such a drive for us and we would like to extend our time if possible....Do I call myself or let you handle it? Also could we be close to the playground cause we are bringing the grandkids.
I know it's still a little ways away but would it be possible for you to put us next to the Hardee's so the kids can play easily together.

Sue--I'll be calling the cg next week to sort out details for this trip. Other campers are extending their stay and have just called the cg directly to make their reservations. If you have any trouble, let me know and I'll help as best as i can.

Kim--you got it! :)
I know it might seem far, far away, but Lori, do you have a cost for us yet on this trip? I've got all my trips paid for except this one, and I'd like to get it done so I don't spend my reservation money by accident. Plus ... I'm just plain ol' excited! We're down to just about 50 days of school left!
Thanks!
Laura
Lori, I think we might be down for this. It may be a Fri-Sun trip for us though. We will have 2A 1C

Ditto for us. We will probably come up Friday and leave Monday.

Lori,
we has so much fun 'crashing' the rally at Easter, Dee and Brian talked us into this rally, so you can reserve a nice site for us, one that gets some morning sun, and afternoon shade, and is not too far from all the activities, yet far enough from the campfire so we are not disturbed by noise should we retire early.
So sign us up for 2 Adults and 4 children and 1 dog.
Looking forward to checking out your new rig. I can't believe we are on our fourth year with our Hybrid.

Buellton is holding its annual Flower Festival this weekend and so there is no group price break. Sorry; I know its expensive, but you do get full hook ups (W/E/S/C) and free Wifi for your money, not to mention all the fun and memories that go with camping with this crazy group! Those'll last you a lifetime!! :eyecrazy: :D

Hi - I'm new to the Arvee club so I hope I'm typing and posting this correctly. I live on the central coast of Calif and am familiar with the Flower Festival which is held anually in Lompoc the last full weekend of June; this event is not held in Buellton.
Lompoc is about a quick 20 minute drive west of Buellton.
The parade lasts pretty much two hours beginning at 10am. If you have children and would like to enjoy the carnival rides, you can purchase all day wrist bands to ride all day (must be purchased by a certain date and perhaps can be mailed to you????). The best days for riding the rides is on Thursday, Friday, or Sunday when the crowds are smaller. The festival has live entertainment, arts, flower field tours, and food booths. I'm not sure, but in the past, they have also provided some kind of tour of Vandenberg AFB (missle's are launched from this base). There is also wine tasting in Lompoc although I am not familiar with how this works or where.
There is no entrance fee into the park, and you only pay a parking fee if you wish to be right next to the park, otherwise, there is a lot of parking on the side streets.
I have provided some links below to help learn more about the festival. I won't be camping that weekend, but now that I know that these rally's exist, we may join you all in the future!

I actually knew it was in Lompoc, I believe Griffsmom was using the direct quote from those at the Rv park
anyway..WELCOME and hope we meet you soon
we are always planning rallys and alot of places when they give you a group rate they will give the rate one day before and one day after which is nice if you're traveling far.

You just made my day! THAT is manageable! Hey - I contacted the campground to extend our stay and decided to wait until I know my exact spot number because the girl was nice, but confusing and I was afraid we'd have to move spots or something. And...we're still waiting to hear about our 4th child joining us - it's still up in the air because his family may have plans.

OK, I might be a little early in posting (I haven't talked to Randy yet) but it looks like the OC Campers might be able to make this rally after all. Our travel plans to go back to the mid-west were post-poned.
You can put us next to 6Quigs. We would prefer an oceanview site please:D :p . Or at least a site where I can plug in a CD player and play an "ocean sound" CD.;)
I am hoping we can extend our stay since it is such a long way down. Maybe Thursday-Tuesday. I will check on this and post back.

At the bottom of the "Facilities Map" the dry camping area is designated as "No Hook-up Tenting Area". It's a large grass field with marked areas for campsites. The last time that we were there, they had a lot of Class-A Motorhomes in there.

Some of us just have no need of hook-ups and don't want to pay for something that we won't be using.

We are arriving on Thurs, June 21st - Thursday June 28th
As you know we have made the reservations already. Let me know how you would like payment?
43 DAYS TO GO
For everyone that is posting about this rally, I will have Lori do her thing tonight. For people inquiring about payment, etc. see page #1 - first thread. If you don't have our address PM me or Lori and we will send our address to you.
Thanks
Well, I guess it pays to go back and re-read the first post. I'll put a check in the mail for all 3 days, if it's okay. That would be $165, if I'm figuring $55/night. If it's' something other than that, just let me know. Thanks!

No No, I've cracked the whip. She'll be on after putting Griffy down. Thanks for the help Dee. Sincerly Dave.
If everyone will look at Lori's first post you'll notice that she's got to give the CG a definite count & let any unspoken-for spots go by May 15th -- that's TUESDAY. Don't know when she has to pay in full ... but my check's in the envelope, ready for mailing in the morning.
Laura
My deepest and sincerest apologies everyone. Life outside of work, kindergarten, work, little league, work, cat-with-broken-leg-and-having-surgery-and-follow-up-kitty-orthopedic-surgery-check-ups, work, church, work, car problems, blah, blah, blah has ceased to exist for me. I promise that I haven't forgotten about this rally or all of you. In all honesty, I really NEED this rally if I'm to keep any semblence of what passes for sanity in my world!!!! :eyecrazy:
Quigs and Jacqui--Whoo Hoo! You have been added to the list. Surf...Nick...BC...everyone else in NNC....there's still room for you too!!:D
Wavery and Recumbent--you have not been added to the list b/c these are all premium sites. If you'd like a non-hook up site, that's totally copesetic, but you'll need to make your own reservations if you haven't already. (Ummm, btw, Brad, aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon when this rally occurs? We're a fun group, but really, even we aren't that fun...;) )
As a reminder: the offical rally dates are Fri, 6/22 through Mon, 6/25. Anyone who wants to arrive earlier or depart later needs to make those specific additonal day reservations separately. FWIW, we'll be coming in on Thursday, leaving on Monday, so only 42 more wake-ups for us!!!!
I have a call into the group reservation lady to pin down final release date for any unreserved sites and total site fees. She doesn't work every day but as soon as she calls me back, I'll update this to let everyone know how much they need to pay. The gal had previously told me that I didn't need to pay in full until the rally, but I'll be confirming that again when I talk to her.
I apologize if everyone has discussed this and I missed it, but does anyone want to do a wine tasting tour and AJ SPurs night like at the February rally? If so, would anyone like to step forward and be in charge of those events(not necessarily both by the same person)? Anyone?....anyone?....Bueller?
I was still planning on having a raffle if everyone still likes that idea. Let me know.
I apologize again for my long absence. :o I just checked my stats and I was last on the boards 4/15!! Yikes, a whole month away from my friends??? No wonder I'm so cranky!
OK, the $55 check will go out tomorrow.
As long as sites are available, we will be there Thursday 6/21-Tuesday 6/27
Jacqui
I was able to speak to the group reservation gal this morning; here's the scoop:
Total fees for arriving Friday, leaving Monday are $154.00. I don't think there is tax on that.
For those of you extending your stays, Sunday through Thursday nights are $48.40/night; Friday and Saturday nights are $52.80/night.
REMEMBER: YOU MUST CALL THE CG YOURSELF tTO RESERVE ANY NIGHTS YOU ARE STAYING THAT ARE OUTSIDE THE RALLY DATES OF FRIDAY 6/22 THROUGH MONDAY 6/25.
I will be releasing any unreserved sites Monday, JUNE 4, 2007. If you know of anyone who wants to camp with us, have them post here or e-mail me.
Well, you're getting a check from me for $165. Don't spend all the extra in one place! ;) Really, though, we can settle up at the CG. Thanks Lori!
Hey Lori,
Check is in the mail tomorrow morning, 5/12, I am paying for the weekend days as a deposit. Let me know if you need the rest before the rally or if the balance can be settled at the rally?
We are reserved with the campground in site #330, which is supposed to be one row behind, and one site down from Dee for arriving on June 21st and departing on June 28.

Lori & I are working on the sites...Lori will post soon who is where. I'm hoping Lori will post it this weekend that way for those staying longer there won't be any confusion
As for an activity, I would like to bring the beads again, they were such a hit last year at pismo. I had kids doing them right up until it was time to leave. It was so much fun.
Bonnie
Alright it is official. We will be there Thurs-Wednesday. Cg wouldn't tell me what site we were in but she said we would be next to the Hardee's.
Lori, I put the check for $154 in the mail box tonite. This way I don't have to worry about payment except for the additional nights.

I'm not posting site assignments quite yet, because I want to give more people a chance to sign up. But I
am working on site assignments, so if there is someone you'd like to be next to...or not....please let me know. (You can e-mail or pm if you don't want to use your out loud voice here ;) )
I am also trying to keep those extending their stays somewhat close together so that after the majority of us leave on Monday, those remaining won't be too spread out. Just to be sure I've got the most up-to-date info, will everyone please post their arrival and departure dates? Thanks!!
YIKES!!!! :yikes: I forgot to add Harald and Marisol (58air) to the list after they had posted!!! :o
Harald and Marisol, I am soooooo sorry!!!! Please don't interpret my oversight as me not wanting you to join us again. I haven't seen any other posts from you, so please let me know if you are still camping at this rally--I sure hope so!! :)
We'll be there from Friday through Monday (Jim's b'day)!

Also, I should have mentioned it earlier, but for those of you who were at the very first PUT-not-yet-SCCampers rally at Lake casitas in September 2002, welcome back prodigal son, Jamesdad! :D They camped next to us and I can only imagine how big their son (then 3 y/o) is now!! All we're missing is Scott and Georgeanne and a few Drunk squad members...
Now everyone be on your best behavior so we don't scare the new campers away..you know like the last time...;) :J

Thanks for the welcome. We are excited to finally start using this thing a little more. My wife just had foot surgery so it will be a bit challenging, but we'll have fun. This will also be our longest trip with the trailer. Hopefully we don't encounter any problems.
See you all soon...

we hope so too, But that's the great thing about camping with this group...there is ALWAYS someone who has it, can fix it, and if not knows how to get it. We are like a big family... This is also the time time to ask questions too
Not worried once we get there. Always worried about the drive...

Also who hosts the potluck at their site? Please don't tell me its the new guys job!

We've had the potlucks on Saturday's in the past. There is going to be approx. 60 people (counting adult/kids) so make more food than for 10 people. You don't have to make enough to feed everyone because every campsite will bring something but I'd make more. The breakfast foods go very quickly so may want to make a bit more of that.
I hope this helps.

I usually will double a recipe unless we are using the dutch oven. The DO usually will feed a small army with just one recipe.
If there isn't a designated potluck/congregating spot we usually figure it out when we get there. Don't worry we won't pick on the Newbie's:D Now the new person initiation is something entirely different. Right guys??:Z :D . Whose bringing the Kool Aid?? Don't worry we haven't lost anyone yet.:D
I think dinner will be DO chicken and rice. We haven't made that since Canyon RV a few years back.
Jacqui
OK let's see if I can answer all the questions
I usully say bring enough for 12-15 people, now that is if you bring lets say spaghetii it's not 3lbs as if that was a main dish. If everyone monitors the kids and follows potluck etiquit (sp?) then that means a spoonfull of an item..with 20+ item thats way more than enough to fill a plate and be full.
Breakfast... Kim is right that tends to go quick. I have started cutting my burritos in half and that seems to help. Azusateach is bringing a doz. donuts which could be cut it 1/4 so it would go plenty. especially with the kids who get there first.
The potluck most likely will be at my site it all depends on what works space wise. I know the tent area is right across from us and if it's empty we can use that space
for the newbie's... the one thing that is appreciated by the person(s) who's site we go to is to remove your leftovers/dishes pretty much when the potluck is over. leaving it there in hopes someone will eat it won't happen and it just becomes a mess and bug fest
the campfire will also most likely be at my site and firewood donations are always appreciated...
Jaqui..what day are you arriving?? Wed or Thurs??
BTW: potluck times are Sat. morninf 9 am Sat. nite 6pm
Lori is the wagonmaster so on Friday these times will be confirmed by her
all I know is the 2 1/2 months I've been going going going ..so I plan on sleeping most the time.
..so I plan on sleeping most the time.
RIGHT!!! :p
Sounds good thanks. The potluck sounds like fun. We have some ideas on what we'll bring. We don't have a DO yet, but have been looking for one, have some things that we would love to try in one.
As for sleep, that would be great, now if the kids we'll respect my sleep time, we'll be awesome.
Thanks, see you REAL soon

I haven't talked to Lori regarding our potluck meals for breakfast and dinner. We will post soon. Can't wait to go camping. I'm exhausted from work.
Dee, you going to bed early is like, well Brian and I skipping a meal. I'll believe it when I see it. :)
Maybe we'll do biscuits or monkey rolls for breakfast and maybe a mexican dish for dinner. Jacqui and Laura please save me a doughnut for breakfast and Dee could you save a breakfast burrito for me. Thanks
Announcement: I spoke with Brandon(Boothebunch) today, and we discussed having a Movie night. Just like at Vail Lakes last Halloween. Using the DLP projector and the 7' big screen. Where we will probably have a kids movie at dusk (That gives us time to load up on Cactus Coolers), we also discussed having a "Mens" Movie as well. Not that kind......the kind with lots of fights and stuff blowing up! Brandon is working on getting the projector as we speak. I will keep you posted.

Is it one potluck or every day? I think I am gaining weight thinking about this trip. My breakfast, at least one morning will be in Solvang having pastries.
See you all soon. I know alot of you have a long drive so be safe.

We "inherited" 50 hot dogs and buns from my sons elem school campout this weekend. Thinking of bringing them along and making them for the potluck, for the kids at least. What do you think?? Maybe someone can bring chili to go with them, then we can continue the trend from AJ's. :0

That is a great idea Dee. I'm thinking of how I can create some kind of belt for the winner, like in Boxing. Then the next big rally, the winning Person (Male or Female, I know some of you ladies have it in you, don't lie. Jellybean will be there so you have something to blame it on) will have to defend their title to keep the belt.
Hi everyone--no time to read posts I've missed--working too much. so forgive me if i repeat something already posted. The worst part about going on vacation is all the work you have to get done before you can go...:swear:
But Dave has been letting me know of some of the questions you all had...so here are some quick answers:
Site assignments are listed on the first post.
Yes, potluck is still on for both breakfast and dinner--saturday. Bring enough to feed 10-12 people, and parents, please accompany your kids (including teen ones) through the line so we can try to make sure everyone gets a chance to sample all the goodies. Potlucks are 9 a.m.-ish and 6 p.m.-ish. Other than that, potlucks are pretty starightforward. If you need more info, I can try to find my nazi potluck rules if I have time. (if I have time--whoo I'm funny.)
I'll probably do DO beef stroganoff and dessert TBD for dinner and monkey rolls for breakfast.
Raffle is still on. I've got "Happy Camper wine that was donated in exchange for pics of our group with the wine for the vintner's Web site. I may also have a couple of DO things and I think Dee has a couple of things. If you have something to donate--feel free to bring it. Just keep in mind it's a raffle, not a garage sale. ;) We're trying to raise money for a SCCampers projector for movie nights at our rallies.
For those of you who haven't paid me in full yet--all payment go through me and you can pay me at the rally. darksiders--I don't remember you giving me a check at newport Dunes, but if you did, i' m so sorry--i can't find it.
i am so ready to go camping...
ps is the wine tasting still on for sunday? i really need to go wine tasting....
I can't remeber if I posted this..but I'm bringing Sloppy joe's for dinner

Yes, you have to bring your own fire ring or rent them from FF.
heres the answer for FF.
"You are correct that our sites do not come equipped with fireplaces. You are welcome to bring one...even those old wash tub basis are fine. Just make sure it keeps the fire at least 12" off the ground. Our rentals require a $40 cash deposit and we deduct $10 per day for rental. Sorry, but there is not a group rate on these."
Maybe I won't be able to afford a $15 burger afterall....

Remember you get all the bowls of bean soup and bread you want with that $15 hamburger with no extra charge. Bowls of soup; not cups; usually go for $4-5 dollars and bread for appetizers go for about $2-3 at other restaurants. If you split the hamburger with your spouse; there's a slight charge for that; you can fill up on the soup and bread and leave a little extra room for the hamburger.

If he could he would. He has the bike all fixed. Kickstand is back, he now has a head light. He goes out to the garage almost daily to work on it. For fathers day the kids and I bought him a cool chest protector at this new gear shop I found. Everything in the store is 1/2 off the regular price. Our house is totally disorganized from remodeling the bathroom and doing new flooring in the den. I am going crazy. I never leave my house a mess when we go camping....and I have no choice this time! The contractor will still be working while we are gone. Anxiety!!! I hate coming back to a messy house!!! Anyway, so I am totally not ready for camping, can't seem to be able to organize anything. We are going to do our shopping when we get up there...one less thing to stress about right now.
So, we will see you on Friday. We are leaving out of here around 11 am....thinking we will get up there around 3 pm or so (hopefully). Brandon can set up camp, and I will take off to the store.
Take care!

We go Wilshire Blvd (we cross the 405) to PCH and up the coast to the 101. We've gone the 405 to 101. It doesn't really save that much time and the drive up PCH is much more enjoyable. If the 101 is jammed, PCH is actually faster.
If you come up the 405, you could exit the 10 west to the end. PCH has a few lights as you go through Malibu but for the most part, it's 45-55mph all the way up the coast (depending on traffic).
However, if you are just hell bent on getting there. The 405 to 101 may save you about 10 minutes. Well make that 30 minutes......we probably stop a few times along the way to enjoy the ocean views of Dolphins or Humpback Wales or have lunch at a view point overlooking the ocean........but if you just enjoy pavement.....go for the 101 :D
Anyone know what time check in is??
My kids have chips in tow. They are ready for poker!
Quote from: Dee4jDrive faster... :J
everything is packed . We just have to put the cooler in the truck and hitch up..
I may even play some poker. I enjoyed it Memorial day taking the money from the boys..especially Dave ;)
210 to 134 to 101 is my choice if I lived down there. Anything to scoot around L.A. We lucked out this trip. No L.A. traffic for us. We'll take 166 straight across to 101, about 2 1/2 hours from home.
Looking forward to meeting everyone, we leave tomrrow around 2:00.
Jamesdad.
I have to assume, since nobody else has posted, that I'm the only one Dee called to say....and I quote....."Ha Ha, I'm here and you're not". Is that a safe assumption? Oh, and she followed that up with a neener neener too.
REMINDER: If you are planning on hanging out at the Fire...Please bring firewood, Of course it's not mandatory, but it helps. We have decided to Rent a firepit this time from the RV Park. It's 10.00 a day and way easier than dragging mine all the way there and having to clean it out before I put it back in the truck. There is a couple of us pitching in for this, and again, pitching in is not mandatory but it will help. As always, everyone is welcome, and encouraged to hang around the fire. Look forward to seeing you all again and meeting a couple of newbies.

That sounds reasonable.........I'll give you mine at the poker table. :!
guess what??? I'm here and you're not
neener neener neener
ditto what Brian said..
actually it's not me...I'm sleeping
wake me up when you get here :o
Check in is 2 pm.
Nothing is packed. I'll be getting up early and doing it with a coffee IV hooked up. You know, like this: :morning: My menu isn't even set. i'll see everyone at Albertson's.
we'll be leaving after Griffy's kindergarten awards ceremony--hope he wins something other than "most likely to need bailing out before 14"
Dave thinks we'll be leaving around 9 or 10. Kiss of death, that is. Means we won't be gone before 11 and then will have to stop for Griffin to go to the bathroom. twice. and then eat lunch
We usually take the 405 to the 101, but I'd rather just go 5 to the 101. I hate the traffic at LAX.
We'll be happy to contribute to the firepit/firewood fund, as long you all are happy to contribute to my hubby's poker fund. ;) :D
See everyone in a day or two. Hey, we're going camping!!! :sombraro:

No - We were too busy packing last night to log on and let you know that we too, got the inevitable phone call! We actually attempted to leave early yesterday and then remembered that Zach was pet sitting for a neighbor. So....it's 7:30a.m. and off we go!
We have firewood and will chip in the for pit. See you tomorrow!
do we need to check in at the office? I assume so...
Quote from: dkutzdo we need to check in at the office? I assume so...
Yes, you will pull right up to the office when you enter the RV Park. Last time they gave us free Otis Spunkmeyer cookies upon check in.
I think we will take 85 and then 101 the rest of the way there :D
Should take us 4 or 5 hours, depending on the amount of pit stops we take.
Hope to leave at high noon on friday, give or take a couple of hours.
Pot Luck Breakfast will be a variety of sausages, and an adult drink!!
Pot Luck Dinner will be Margaret's stir fry special.
There will be only 5 of us, as our daughter is on vacation with a friend for the week.
So, I guess we need to go to the store sometime today and start packing some clothes, bring a box of fire wood( we got 6 bags of marshmallows left over from a dance so will bring them, plus crackers and chocolate).
Looking forward to seeing everyone again
Kevin
School just got out today! I am so tuckered!!! Those of you who teach know what I mean....I am physically and emotionally drained at this point. I need a drink.
Nothing is packed.
I have to go to work tomorrow morning for check-out. I hope we are out of here by 11 am. Noon, at the latest. The kids will be eating lunch in the truck!
Oh, Dee called Bran to do her neener, neener, too.
Lisa
Packed the TV today, and then looked at my wiring problem with the tail lights. Still not working right but will get us there. Maybe we will have to have a wiring class while there.
We should be out of here by 1:30 hopefully there by.....6?? who knows.
Schools out for summer!!!
Well, it's nice to know I won't be the only one coming in tomorrow. School's been out a week for me. Spent the first 3 days sleeping, then had to get myself organized for not only Buellton but the 6 days that follow. I'm leaving early tomorrow -- might as well. Plan on stopping in Goleta & hanging out near the beach. It'll be cooler & that much closer to Buellton. See you all soon!

We're going right past Goleta on the way.....maybe we'll stop & see if you're there. We plan on leaving early & taking our time driving up PCH.

I'm not sure where I'm going, I just want to be near the water for a bit. Any suggestions for easy off & parking that's dog-friendly? You can call up to 10:00 if you see this. Thanks!
All I have left to do is load the coolers and hitch. As soon as Ashlee is out of school we will be on the road.

BTW Thanks Brian for going to camping world for me :)
wavery & brad..I hope you get here eary the "tent area" is starting to get occupied and there are 3 trailers across from us right next to the playground
It looks like they set up their trailers to mark their spot and went home It's 1:40am and no one is there
oh I just woke up and noticed I'm not still up I was sleeping
It was nice to sleep in this morning and not get up until I wanted to...well until the phone rang...
Brian don't EVEN think about it.....the kids went to bed really late and you wake Kara up..you deal with her darma all day
Jim is working on shopping and packing today and I'm off to work...are we the only ones that haven't left yet???
For the potlucks we're bringing smokey links and tropical fruit salad for breakfast and BBQ chicken drummies and potato salad for dinner.
I have some new DVD's and a mustard and ketchup mobile (a classic) to contribute to the raffle.
We'll bring our fire pit and wood too.
Don't forget your ScCampers flags!
See you tonight! Yeeeehaaaa!
Quote from: dkutzdo we need to check in at the office? I assume so...
Yep - they have a list of everybody! It's nice here!
Bran is lagging....still trying to load. I just got home from work. I am thinking we'll be leaving around noon, now.
Lisa
I think that a good time was had by all..........
It was fun getting together with friends that we haven't seen for a while and getting to know new ones.
Doofus had a blast but I think he's glad to be home....until next time :p . He loves "Hanging" out with the kids. :sombraro:
Thanks to all from the newbie. We had a lot of fun! Traffic sucked but other than that we had a lot of fun! Kids loved the pool and dad loved all the FOOD! We are already signed up for campland in Nov, but we may stick ouur names on the waiting list for some others.
Thanks again, what a good group (well...) ;)
We made it home in 3 hours! No traffic to speak of, guess we left at the right time. We, as usual had a ball. I will now tell everyone that I fell over backwards in a chair and was left staring at the sky on Saturday night. (This info ran through the RV park like a wildfire). I wanted to tell this 1st so the story is told without additives. I did this AFTER countless Bud Lights, Countless Cactus Coolers, and I lost count after 7 shots of Tequila, so I think I was justified. As a few of us discussed, I think the Potlucks were best I've ever had since I started with SCCampers. We, as always are looking forward to the next trip, we don't care what Lisa says, we'll be there.

We had a GREAT time - ditto on the potlucks! That was a great campground/location for all of the families. Well done Lori!

I'll bet that it was all that soup and bread that made it so good.......
We really hated to leave on Sunday but Carolyn couldn't hardly call in sick on her 1st day on the job.
I still think that a Queen-King-Ace-2-3 should be a straight :p .
Griffin is sure maturing quickly.......you'd better figure out a way to slow that guy down. ;) He's gonna be off to college before you know it.
We had a great tinme as well, one of the best campouts we can remember. We also made it home in under three hours with no traffic at all. It was great meeting everyone. The people are what make it great, the campsite is just an added bonus. Dan (DK&3kids), thanks for all your help withour trailer on our maiden voyage. We are very happy with it. We are already looking forward to the next trip. We forgot out camera on this trip so we are looking forward to pictures being posted.

Brian....Oh, we just had fun 'cos we found something to harrass you about.....you know we love you....we just don't want to share you three with another group! If you weren't around...who would harrass me about zucchinis and everything else dumb I do? :D
Uh, however, no excuses....you pulled a "Lisa" and fell that night! I heard it was SPECTACULAR!!!
Lisa
We miss all of you who left yesterday!! It's us, Dee, Hardees, Boncrab, and OCcampers left. In your place arrived huge motorhomes! Poor Bonnie and Rick...they are sandwiched between two of them!
We all went to Refugio Beach yesterday...great place. We liked the small waves and shallow water. It was awesome for the kids! Today we are going to try to see the miniature ponies and go to the park that has castles and Viking ships (Bri...we should have taken you there and gotten your picture!).
Glad you all made it home safely..and pretty quickly! I hope we can report the same tomorrow.
Lisa
OH! And, I forgot....we played Frickle last night! And, I won!! :#
Okay, okay...it's called Farkle...but, I think Frickle suits it better!
Lisa
I'm still having fun...neener neener neener :Z
I must say I had a fun weekend despite I can down with a multitude of illnesses
It was fun WINNING at poker...I'm sorry I missed the fish squad CEO do a trick :J

We all had a great time...but our Ashley woke up on Monday and looked out the window and started crying...Jellybean left her without saying goodbye..we heard that all day until the kids left later Monday night...They made it back to Ramona in 3 1/2 hrs. Bryan must of been flying.... it scares me to think about it. they had no traffic at that time and the kids slept the whole time. We left on Tuesday..and hit traffic of course all the way through LA. It took us 6 1/2 hrs to get home again. But we all arrived safely and that whats important. Thanks again to Kim for the for our neat-o-tee shirts. she is so tallented and also thanks for our flag poles also. We had a great time playing fraggle on Monday night and I don't like games but that is a no brainer...good thing too because most of my brain was under the influence of Cactus coolers. See you all in July at the next SScampers mini ralley. Oh ya and thanks to Lorie who put this all together even with her busy schedule.
So, we are home safely.....we got home in 3 and 1/2 hours....just like Mapquest said (this time).
We've been home for 20 minutes...and Bran is already rushing out to deal with a customer problem! Ugh! Welcome home!
Lori--awesome rally!! Logann said this was her favorite camping trip ever! Bonnie--the girls loved the beads, thanks!.
Dee--we miss you already!
Jackie and Randy--loved talking 'round the campfire!
Everyone else--loved seeing all of you! Looking forward to seeing you sometime in the summer!
Lisa
Tell Ashley sorry Jellybean left without saying goodbye. We were on a quest to get out early and most everyone was asleep. Brian wanted to stop and look at trailers on the way home until we got the call that everything went through on the one we wanted. Jellybean will be at the next one and she can take her for another walk with our Ashlee.
Kristi
We didn't take many pictures last weekend (kept forgetting the camera) but for what it's worth, I posted all we took in my webshots album:
http://family.webshots.com/album/559653227eubydq
OC's made it home without a hitch. Took us about 7 1/2 hours and only hit traffic in Sacramento.
We had such a super time. I really enjoyed sitting around the campfire and getting to know everybody a little bit better. It was so sad to see everyone leave on Monday. The pool was empty and the campground management was even grumpier. Just ask Dee about that:eyecrazy: .
There is nothing like a cold cactus cooler and a warm campfire to relax a soul. I sure miss camping with everyone on a regular basis. I guess we will just have to try and "meet in the middle" every year.
Thank you Lori for being the wagonmaster, I know with your schedule it wasn't easy. Dee thanks for the use of your campsite and for being the "bar tender". Wayne, Kendra is still talking about Doofus.
One of the best parts about the rally was after everyone left, Matthew learned to ride is bike. He came up to me and said he was going to try and ride and without any help he took off down the street. I was in shock. We have been working with him for months to get him to do this. I guess good things come to those who wait:) . Now to get him back on his dirt bike.
Jacqui
Boncrabs family and ours went to lunch today in Solvang and shopped a bit. they had a farmers market with lots of fresh produce. Lisa they had fresh zucchini there, but not a big as Brandon grows!..one guy had a head of cabbage bigger than kevin's head and we saw an onion the size of Kara's and the tomato's are gigantic. we sat by the fire for one last night and our neighbors visiting from South Africa joined for a bit. everyone went to bed except me of course but when our friend the skunk decided to wonder thru behind my trailer and hangout in brandon's site which is still vacant, I decided I'm done and ran inside the trailer. I wish Riley was here to warn me the skunk was coming!
It's just the kids and I tomorrow and Dan comes up Friday. tomorrow is Clean up and organize day..ugh..I can't put it off any longer
Thanks Lori for Planning this
Thanks Dan & Brian for fixing all the stuff on my trailer
Thanks Kendra for taking the kids to the pool etc.. numerous times
Btw..I'm still here...neener neener neener
So, I know I talked A LOT on Friday night (uh, I talk a lot any night when Cactus Coolers are around--truth serum for me)....and I know I mentioned about my biopsy. I was stressed about it, trying not to let it get to me, but failing miserably. Anyway, my doc just called and said the biopsy came out negative!! :-) Thank God! And, thanks to those of you who were comforting me!! You were right!!

Well, I just want to say thank you to everyone who attended this rally. I apologize for being a bit MIA near the end--both in the planning aspects and at the cg. Something gave me the whammy on the last night. I got chills, hiked up the heater and before I knew it, had the camper at 85+, but was still shivering. Decided i'd better turn down the heat before i boiled poor little Griffy in his sleep and went to bed myself. Dave came in around 1:30 and I was still shivering. Woke up again at 3:30 and my fever must have broken, because then I was sweating. Ugh!
Despite my last night, griffsfamily had a great time! The potlucks were marevelous and the raffle was a kick! Thanks to everyone who donated items and bought tickets. [BTW, Brad and Mary, I have your winnings. Hope you needed 2 DO lid lifters--I'm not kidding!!] We raised $285 and with 2 or 3 more raffles, we should have enough for a decent projector...maybe at the Halloween and Easter rallies and with more items for the kids? I've put Bran and Dan (Mennell) in charge of scoping out the projector when the time comes, so if anyone knows of any deals, those are our go-to guys.
It was great seeing all the kids playing together and having fun--I think we had 30.5 kids at the rally!! It was also a real treat getting to see friends we haven't seen in ages and making new friends! I never ceased to be amazed at what a great group we've got here--especially for a bunch of ax murderers who all met on the Internet nearly 6 years ago. :yikes: ;) :J Anyway, thanks to everyone for such a wonderful weekend!!!
Lori,
I have a feeling that you do a great job on whatever it is that you tackle. This rally was no different. You did a spectacular job and a great time was had by all.
Thanks for everything........ :sombraro:

God is Good!!!!!!:D
Oh, yah!!!
Great to hear your news, Lisa!
What a great rally. We couldn't have asked for better weather (seems we have reversed the ScCampers curse!) and we feel very fortunate to be part of this fun camping community. It feels like my neighborhood experience as a kid. Unfortunately, the weekends seem to fly by and we are packing to leave before we know it. Next ScCampers trip for us won't be until Halloween...we'll miss you guys. In the meantime, this summer we are off to the bay area, Pismo, and Michigan (not on the same trip!).
Thank you Lori for another job well done as wagonmaster. You are such an amazing organizer and leader of our ScCampers.
Thanks again, Brad, for the flags...it was fun to see them all on display. Happy Wedding and Honeymoon to you and Mary.
Thank you Bonnie for the pony bead crafts...it was a big hit with my kids (in case you didn't notice!).
Thanks once again Dee for keeping the fire burning and the Cactus Coolers flowing.
Thanks to Lisa and Brian for doing your amazing stunts and being troopers about it.
Thanks to all for the great potluck dishes and good times!
The Darksiders are camping in the Monterey bay area this weekend and Harald and Marisol (58 Air) are in Sequoia. Our outdoor activity for the weekend is the "Sing Along Sound of Music" tomorrow night at the Hollywood Bowl...should be interesting!
Here's an odd assortment of photographs...I seem to take pictures sporadically.

guess what? I'm still here camping and you're not...neener neener neener
went to SLO today..stopped at wally world in arroyo grande. Dan arrived on time via amtrak & amtrak bus. We had one last good campfire and tomorrow we plan on going to Solvang after breakfast..the kids are looking for more ice cream. then just hanging out and relaxing
then it's back to reality and time to go home on Sunday. I prearranged a late check out and will be leaving around 6 pm...
the campground is full again and back to the wrist bands at the pool. The good thing is I haven't seen Mr. skunk wondering thru. last nite I went to get something out of my cooler and i'm standing at the door with my flashlight making sure he wasn't there...I'm such a chicken when you guys aren't around
Jeanne, when are you guys going to Pismo?
Quote from: griffsdadJeanne, when are you guys going to Pismo?
We'll be there from Thursday August 2nd through Sunday August 5th. We are staying at Pismo Coast Village (never been there before) because we couldn't get into the Kon Tiki Inn where we stay every year for our annual family get together. When I made the reservation ours was the last site available at the campground but you never know, there may be a cancellation.
