Title: Anyone been to Loneduck CG in Cascade, CO or Golden Eagle
Post by: Dunnfamily4 on Apr 22, 2007, 12:05 PM
We are checking out CG's in the area of Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs, CO and wanted to check with folks on their opinion of the area and campgrounds.

We liked the looks of Loneduck Campground in Cascade, CO and the facilities, especially for kiddos.

Golden Eagle looks okay too.  Appreciate any reviews of these CG's or others in the area, Dunnfamily4.

Hi y'all,
We live in the area and have visited (not camped at) Golden Eagle and have driven by Lone Duck many times. The former is kinda run down, and have never read any good reports on it. Some friends of ours stayed there and said pretty much the same thing. Lone Duck may be a better choice for those with young'uns.
Another place you might consider is "Mountaindale Campground"

We usually make that our first camp of the season because it's nearby (down hwy 115, south of town) in case I missed anything in getting the PUP out of it's long winter nap (frozen tubing etc.) It's not like McKinney Falls, Bastrop or Inks Lake, but it'll do for a base camp for touring the area.

Another place almost in town is Garden of the God's campground

It's in Manitou Springs. I've read good reviews on it as well.

Hope this helps some. Feel free to post more questions or you can email us directly.
