Title: Sunday night at AJ Spurs
Post by: griffsmom on May 14, 2007, 10:58 PM
Putting out feelers for...AJ Spurs!

At the February Flying Flags Rally, we ate at a wonderful western-themed steakhouse called AJ Spurs. The food is great, although a tad pricey, but portions are huge and you can split a dinner for a small splitting fee.

UPDATED 6/17:

We have reservations for 5:30 p.m. Sunday 6/24. The loft was already reserved but they have other banquet rooms downstairs and we have one of those. Ordering will be off the menu and they will do separate checks for everyone. Also, I confirmed that it is 30 people, not adults, so we are fine on our people count.

If you'd like to go to dinner here again, please sign up here and let me know how many adults and children.

If we would like to go there again, I can call and try to reserve the banquet room (holds 80) for Sunday around 5:30 p.m. Please let me know if you'd be interested in going. I need at least 30 adults signed up for this or we can't get the room. Also, they will charge a $100.00 usage fee for less than 30 adults.

Rather than be the only ones left at the campground, (eating leftovers from Saturday's potluck), you had better put us down for 2 adults and 4 children.

We may back out of the AJ Spurs dinner.  After thinking about it, it will cost a pretty penny to take 5 of us there.  We will need to put that money in the gas tank:) .

Yes.... AJ's is really good... but pricey. I'm thinking about feeding Kara before and letting her have some of mine. She doesn't really eat anything anyway. I think last time she  ended up sharing a bit of ViPrincesses fetucchini alfredo.

Yes, it does seem pricey....but, school will have just let out...so, I am telling them it is a celebration dinner for a job well done!  Plus, my girls will probably share a meal.  I will just have to reign Brandon in on his choice!

Unfortunately, my kids would kill each other if they had to share a meal.  They all 3 eat like I haven't fed them in days.   Maybe we will splurge and find a pizza place instead:rolleyes: .  Randy and I are on Weight Watchers so this maybe our slurge/blow all your points in one day meal:o :D .

oh I get it..I'm not bagging on you for not going...you just reminded me on how much I spent on Kara not to eat

Anderson's Pea soup place is walking distance from the campground..don't know how pricey they are..maybe they have a website.

We went to Andersons and ate lunch the last time we went to FF.  I actually tried some of their "World Famous" Split Pea soup and It as really good.  It's priced about like a CoCo's, (Inexpensive).  We talked about going there for lunch on Saturday if anyone is interested in tagging along.

Okay - am I getting worried about the prices at AJ Spurs.  Can you define pricey so I don't pass out (or rather have to revive Dan?)

Okay - I found the website and answered my own question.  Kids' meals are totally reasonable!  Zach WILL be a child that night!

$15 bucks for a lousy hamburger???????????????

For a good steakhouse, the prices aren't horrible (if you buy steak).  But that better be a really good hamburger ($14.99) and the chicken breast should be blackened with gold dust for $21.99.

Sorry, I didn't mean to cause an uproar here.  I just got cheap (thrifty?)

Wayne, Wayne, Wayne......if people look under your Avatar, and see that you live in Beverly Hills California, one of the richest cities in the world, and then read a post that you are complaining about a $15.00 hamburger, what are they to think? LOL Plus, If I remember right, that did include Cheese. Seriously, it is a bit pricey, but it's a special occaision where all of us camping buddies can get away from camping for awhile and enjoy a meal we don't have to prepare or clean up after.

So, what's say we break out the WD-40, lube up them wallet hinges, and take Carolyn out for a nice dinner with 30 of your favorite camping people?

I totally agree. That's not "CHEAP" either. It's just reality.

I don't mind spending a little more for ambiance and I realize that this is a tourist area but................$15 for a burger   A cruise ship, this isn't.

We just got back from a trip to Seattle. We had a 6-hour delay in Vegas   and went to a restaurant inside the airport. Now, everyone knows that airport prices are ALWAYS at least double the going rate. I mean.....Burger King wanted $9 for a burger...that's OK...concider the rent that these guys pay (typically $110K a month for a small kiosk).

We went to a nice restaurant and had dinner for $15 each. Their burgers were $12 and I thought that was a tad high.

Am I just getting old here

Tell Ashley thanks..she would one have to give up 10 noodles if that ;)  you know Kara my little birdie.

Kristi..There is alot of food tell Zach he won't starve!!

Jaquai don't feel bad.. it is pricey , it is an option. I would rather you be able to camp an extra day. We understand trust me I have 2 kids in Private School.

Wavery just has to complain about everything ;) ..LOL
maybe that's why he can live in one of the most expensive cities in the country..Hey Wavery ..you can't take it with ya :J

anyway I find it the same as Outback Steakhouse but you get way more food. We went there last week to celebrate Kara's 8th bday and Kevin's 8th grade graduation 4 adults 2 kids = $133 BEFORE tip

I think last year at AJ's we were around the $70 range before tip. shoot that's a tank of gas, or a 30 pk of beer a case of monster, peach schnapps & vodka...hmmm maybe I should rethink this...LOL

I agree, its alot of money but you don't do it every day and it is a grouip event to put the cherry on top of the trip.I am also not pleased with the amount we will spend, but I won't do it again for awhile. Also, a side note...the hamburger may be big enough to split with DW or DH...$7.50 each, thats cheaper than the airport Burger King and a better restaurant...See, i'm thinking logically her. Anybuddy want to help me out here...?

If you do decide to do pizza, there's a casual little pizza place we ate at last time that you can walk to from the cg. i'll point it out to you when we see you.  Can't wait!!
