Title: Thanksgiving Retreat
Post by: dademt on May 21, 2007, 02:39 PM
We are thinking of camping on Thanksgiving weekend in Lacaster area somewhere.  Most likely also doing Shady Maple for breakfast on Saturday.  Figured I would start everyone's mouth watering already.

Well, We haven't decided anywhere yet but my parents most likely would be going also.  My dad was heading this one up so I told him I would post here if anyone had the same desires or other ideas for us to consider.  We have plenty of time to kick around ideas.

I'm on vacation that week, so I'll guess I'll watch here for further updates!

I'll have to pass on this one. I'm hoping my college kids will be home for the long weekend and I'm sure they'll want to stick close to home to visit with friends. Unlike some of you lucky parents, my kids won't be home often so I have to take what I can get.

Unfortunately, there are no holidays or vacations in HS sports. The morn after Thanksgiving (like 7am or something), basketball tryouts begin for Kels. These coaches mustn't have lives outside of school or sports. Same thing happens at Christmas. Four more years of this insanity but it's hard to say "No, you can't do sports" just coz I want to go camping...

Scott I am planning on joining you at Spring Gulch for Thanksgiving.  As I understand it, Shady Maple will be lunch or dinner and not breakfast. :)

Sounds great.  We are at site either 1555 or 1556 ( parents are on the other site).  Doing Thanksgiving dinner on Friday.  Saturday - most likely for lunch - we will do Shady Maple.  For anyone thinking of joining us:  Camping there are still sites open but no water or bathrooms.  Lunch on Saturday, we don't have a time yet but feel free to call me or nicole on our cell phones if you want to meet up.

Scott how was your trip?  Missed you guys a lot.  Hope you had a good time.  How was Shady Maple?  Tell the DW and DKs I said hi and that I am still waiting for Alex to give me a tooth.  I had fun on my trip.  I even got to wash with warm water.:D  Spent most of Saturday looking at campgrounds.  There are a lot of them that I would not want to camp in.

Tracy, I can say that we had a blast.  I was running water in the camper so we had hot showers also but now I have to re-winterize.  Oh well, it was worth it.  So many things were nice about it, have to wait until we see you guys again to gab.  Might try to find a different place for next year only due to no bath-houses.  Shady Maple was good as always.  We did lunch this time for something different.

So how was you trip?

Scott, there are a couple of campgrounds on the other side of Shady maple, not sure if any of them are open this late. Oak Creek is one of them as well as Lake-in-wood, there is a third, Sun Valley is just past of Oak Creek.

My trip was good too.  Did not do any black friday shopping!!!  Spent most of Saturday looking for a campground for the eastern rally.  There are a lot of BAD campgrounds out there.  Saturday night was Thanksgiving dinner at the campground and Sunday was home made turkey with leftover soup.:D

Thanks Paula, my parents use to have a perm site at Lake in Wood for quite a few years.  Nice place although very built up over time.  Haven't been there in ages.  I believe my parents tried Oak Creek but I don't know of Sun Valley.  I will have to check that out so thanks.

NO BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING????   I just can't believe it.  Have you done all your shopping?   I didn't do much shopping either, except at Green Dragon.

We didn't go out shopping Friday or Saturday. On Sunday, I had to take J to Port Authority in NYC. At the last minute, we (J, Kelsey and I) decided to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We had a nice lunch before he caught a bus back to school. On the way home, Kels and I stopped at Macy's. Sad to say, I think J reached Providence before we got home from the store. Can I say I hate shopping? And we didn't even buy Christmas presents, just dressy clothes for her to wear to sports banquets and for bball game days (the team has to wear "nice" clothes).

I haven't done ANY Christmas shopping and I also have Chris and K's bdays coming up this month. Bad, I know. I leave in about a week to go to FL to take care of my mom (she's having a hip replacement) so I'm in real trouble.
