Title: Austin, TX area
Post by: bandmbigred on Jun 01, 2007, 09:15 AM
Hello, I am looking for a good campsite near the Austin area.  Myself and 3 buddies will be heading down in late October and need a place to stay.  Doesn't need many frills; full hookups, showers, and a map to the nearest golf course will be good enough!  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
When we lived in Austin, our favorite place was Inks Lake State Park. It is especially nice in October (cooler then). Try to get a spot on the far west end...not so much noise there.
Other favorites are Bastrop state Park and McKinney Falls State Park. All have showers and are not far from golfing.

I have been to Bastrop State Park and I loved it. I have been back many times since. This park has golfing, swimming, full hook-ups and showers. It has great sites in the shade too.

Also check out Pedernales Falls State Park.  Close to Austin in the Hill Country, great park, awesome hiking and about 30 - 45 minutes from downtown Austin.  McKinney Falls SP is inside the city limits of Austin and beautiful.  Bastrop SP is another 30-45 drive to Austin depending on traffic.  All are great parks.

With any of the state parks around Central Texas, make reservations now for fall trips.  They fill up fast.  Enjoy your visit.
