Title: June Lake Loop, Ca.
Post by: wavery on Jun 03, 2007, 10:03 PM
We just got back from Bridgeport California. We drove up to visit the kids over the weekend.

On the way home, we drove up the June Lake Loop by Mammoth. There are 4 lakes up there, Grant, Silver, Gull and June Lakes. We stopped at Silver Lake and explored the CG for a while.

This is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. 2nd only to Yosemite (In my opinion) and no where near the crowds. In fact, while we were there, there was hardly anyone. It was so fresh, beautiful and pristine that it was unbelievable. Lakes & streams full of trout, water falls, hiking trails etc.

It seems to me that it would be a great place for a rally. It's the High Sierras at their finest.

I'm just wondering if anyone has camped there and if there would be any interest in a rally there.

I've camped in Mammoth and I think June Lake also, but it's been 20 years & it was in the Fall.  It was drop-dead gorgeous then, too.

I'd give it a whirl!  It's a long haul, but in my book well worth the drive.

Hello. I'm a new member. I have been to that area [it's beautiful].

If you'd like to see a few pictures of Silver Lake I've posted them at the site below. Are we allowed to insert links in our posts? I guess I'll find out in a few minutes.

wow Beautiful.  Reminds me of my trips backpacking inthe emigrant wilderness in the high sierras.

Maybe this would be a good, PU tour.  maybe two stoops to break up the long drive?

Bridgeport is our home away from home. If you plan it we will come. June Lake Loop would be a super rally site. We would be there.  Plus as a treat there is a resort/spa  near by where you can go and get pampered after a dry camping trip.  Can you say FULL BODY MASSAGE!!!:D

Russ (Russinator) it is good to see you posting agian.  It has been a long time since we camped next to you at Francis Lake.
