Title: Replacing pilot assembly - what type pipe dope?
Post by: lilbuzz on Jul 09, 2007, 07:34 PM
I am replacing the pilot light assembly on my Suburban SW6P water heater.  The tube to the pilot light got flattened (hit too often while trying to get the anode rod out).  The assembly includes the pilot light, the thermocouple, and the mounting bracket.  The compression fittings to the thermostat control are made of brass.  I want to know what type of pipe dope to use at the connections to the thermostat control.

I found out on a different forum that there is no pipe dope needed for the connections to the thermostat control.  I replaced the pilot assembly in just a few minutes.
