Dose anyone here pull with a Freestar.I have a 2001 coleman tacoma i currently pull with my F150.But i would also like the ability to use my wifes ford freestar. The only thing is i cant find any info on installing a brake controller.
Any info would be greatley appreciate.
Thanks Daniel
Daniel, Your local Ford dealership should have the Towing Guide. Since the Freestar is no longer made they should have the past guides. It's probably only a couple thousand pounds. They weren't designed for that type of work.

I have tried pulling with my Windstar, and it definitely needs some rear support to firm up the sagging...A brake control system too.
My parents have a Freestar. Nice car- too bad it got canceled. They have the AWD version and get better than 25 mpg highway- very good for an AWD vehicle that seats seven.
It has a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which I believe is a large part of the low tow rating .

News to me! Freestar canceled? We have a 05 with tow pkg and they say the rating is 3500lb. I would get the load equalizer hitch if I was going to use, along with the brakes. I would think a camper dealer should help you out.
I belive you are talking about the windstar being cancelled. Someday I'l hook our Bayside up to it to see just how much it WILL sag. Would be nice to have a second TV in case something happens.
When I had questions about towing with my Honda Odyssey I searched and found a bulletin board just for the Odyssey's. I bet with a quick search you could find a board for yours. Then do another search on that board for whatever questions you have.
Good luck.

2007 Was the last year for the Freestar. In the San Diego area they rarely ordered any with the Tow pkg. The Windstar ended in 2003.
