Title: Hilltop/Hilltopper?? PUP
Post by: andyshowfan on Jul 16, 2007, 10:21 AM
I was wondering if any of ya'll fine folks have heard of the "hilltop" or "hilltopper" brand of camper. I am in the process of purchasing another PUP (sold my '99 flagstaff :( due to divorce) and I am looking at a '70's something Hilltop/Hilltopper in imaculate condition and wanting comments on a few things. The PUP's I've had in the past have always had a crank up system.....1st question is: Is it hard to put up one that have the spring loaded legs?
2. what would the camper be worth, considering it is in nearly new shape for its age.
3. How concerned do I need to be with weight as I plan on completely renovating/updating the interior?
4. Is there a website with emphisis on vintage PUP's

Thanks
Charlie

When I think of "Hilltop" and "pop-up" at the same time, I think of Hilltop Trailer sales in Fridley, MN:

They have been in business since 1951.  Is there a possibility that what you think is a name brand is really a dealer insignia?  Back in the '70s, it was not uncommon to drill two holes in a panel and rivet the dealer insignia on; this was even done with cars.  :yikes:

There was a camper company called Hilltop back in the 60s and maybe into the early 70s.  Not much out there about them, but someone had asked this question either here or on another pop-up site just recently.

You are correct; this list of pop-up manufacturers says they went out of business in 1978:
