I own Tall Pines Harbor Campground on the Eastern Shore of VA. I am throwing around the idea of hosting a Mid-Atlantic Pop-Up Rally in 2008. We have hosted the Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally for the past 3 years. We are looking for inputs as to different activities you might like offered at this rally as we welcome any new ideas anyone may have.
Do you have a website?

Tracy, just a little google.....

I've met these owners through another publication that I produce, and plan to help them with a rally. I'll post more info as I have it.
Too bad they aren't planning it for 2009. We could possibly have the Eastern Pop Up Rally there.:)

Thank you for the link Tim. Yes I could have done a search, but I thought they would post it if they really wanted us to look at it.:)

Let's "test drive" their location and facilities with a 3-4 night rally, if it's favorable then use it for future rallies.
Let us know when and where and we'll probably make a 4 or 5 day weekend out of it! The Eastern shore is very pretty and I would like to find a nice campground to explore in that area!!!
Cheryl and the CAPEd CODger
Forgot to ask....Is there a nearby boat ramp that DH could use to put in his waverunner? A place at the campground to tie up at for the weekend? A necessity to him if we are that near the water!
Let me know 3 or 4 night would not be bad at all. :book:
This is one of the campgrounds we are seriously considering for 08. My kids keep complaining we don't venture far enough from home. They can tell friends they camped in Va without me having to drive through Baltimore :yikes: . If anyone has any experience with this campground please post.
New to the PU life this summer....looking at purchasing a 04 Fleetwood Westlake soon. Like the idea of a midatlantic rally.
Cheryl,
Yes, we can launch your waverunners for you right off our beach (we do it with our tractor) and then you can either leave them tied off at our pier or anchor and moor them just off our swimming area.
Hope to see you next summer!

Dave,
We are looking at hosting the rally in June either the 5th until the 8th or the 19th until 22nd. I was thinking the later date might be better since most schools should be out be then??? Any inputs or major conflicts with either of those dates?

Raymond and I have camped there several times. Sites are a little tight as this had been an airstream park once upon a time, but the owners have done a LOT of work since they bought the Park several years ago. Including a pool, adding a lot of sites and generally fixing up the campground.
Shari and Ray are great people, we enjoyed camping there. I agree a 3 or 4 day rally would be good.
A Plus for Crab lovers (not me or Raymond) is that Saxis', the village at the end of the road, economy is based on crabs. they have the crab thingees, and you can buy them, bring them back to the camper and cook'em up (yuck).
Where and when do we sign up???? I'm ready, well not right now in winter...
I would love to come, it depends on if it is my time off days, I am off both dates that he is looking at.

the date was set to june 19-22 2008 just found this
Is this still on?? Anyone going??Raymond said he is game.
Well the weekend is still on their website, I called but got voice mail. I e-mailed and left a voice mail. I think Raymond wants to go whether or no, he likes the fishing...well the only thing he has caught are baby rays. the kind with the tails...
Paula, Dave is going to call them this week.:)
Thanks Tracy! I will be waiting to hear/read what he has to say.
Shari called me today but I literally could not talk. My asthma is so bad right now, that if I talk, I cough.
She said that they do still have availability. She gave up her day job, well weekday job, when we went there she was working in VA, not too awfully far from Westmoreland SP and drove to the campground to help her husband run it on weekends...wish I had that kind of energy...She said the campground really took off. I know they were doing a lot of improvments back when we were going there. It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive for us, and we only went on holiday weekends...traffic was so bad coming back that we quit going...Delaware Beach traffic on Sunday afternoons and Monday mornings is a bear. and we live in the northern part of Delaware.
Even if no one else joins us, and there is no cruise, Raymond and I are going to head that direction that weekend. So if anyone else wants to join us there...I am going to call Shari back when I can talk, hopefully tomorrow and make my reservation...
I had booked my site on line and we drove down today to settle up and get out of the house...
Shari was not there, so I have e-mailed her.
Raymond and I wanted to stay...we inquired about renting a camper, but there is a 2 night minimum, which I undstood. We are kicking ourselves for not having the tent ready...
Here is my plan from here on out...have tent in minivan...have cooler in minivan...have 4 minute raised air mattress bed in cooler in minivan, have another sleeping bag in minivan...I can live on hot dogs roasted on a borrowed fire for a day or two. that way I WILL NOT have to miss the opportunity I had this afternoon...it was beautiful, the breeze was blowing, there were vacant tent sites near the water...it would have been PARADISE for us down there at Tall Pines Harbor.
We will be camping at Tall Pines July 6th thru July 10th. Making Reservations today

Sorry you are not going to make it to the Rally, looks like it will be fun and there will be commercial stuff there also.
One of the truck campers this last weekend had the neatest deck that is semi permanent, he said that at the truck camper rally a few weeks ago, he saw it, likes it and got it. So I am looking forward to seeing what is there and holding myself back.
I am back, had a really good time. Was glad to see Chip and Margie and Margie's sister. There were only 10 families in the rally, and I did not sign up for the popup contest because, well, the cabin A is not a popup. Chip and Margie did get a trophy.
I met some really nice people both part of the rally and some not. Seasonals and transients.Dave was sorely missed, but his day job needed him.
The camper is still down there, I am going to let them store it, and when I want to camp (if there are sites available, July 4th is completely booked), I call, make my reservation and when I get there, the camper will be sitting leveled on the site. No extra charge...then all I have to do is drop the stablizers, plug up, water, and any other "finishing touches". Got back on just over a 1/4 tank, it takes a full half towing...so it will pay for itself.
One of the families even bought one of campers that St. Michaels had brought down for display. There were 2 types of quicksilver campers there, one of which is the toy hauler version of a popup. interesting. I can see a use.
Raymond did not make it, he was not coming down until later, but the fridge died and he bought a new one, delivery was 4:00 Saturday PM...a little too late to come down.
