Title: Crank handle
Post by: webbmom on Nov 25, 2007, 07:07 PM
You all have been so helpful in the past.  So I am sure that someone has an answer for this one.  We have a 1997 Coachman Clipper.  The crank handle for the lift is the same one for the feet.  The handle seems to be slipping.  Can we get a new handle? Where? Or is there another solution.  We are leaving again on less than 30 days and really need to get this fixed before we go.  Thanks!

not sure I understand ... what is slipping, the handle itself or the lift mechanism?

Some years Coachman/Viking used a Goshen lift and other years something different. If per chance you don't know propbably a call to Coachman would get you the answers you need.

Anyway, post what you find out so the board will know if someone else has a like problem in the future.

The Crank itself.  My DH seems to think it is stripped.

The place to start would be to replace the handle itself; and the place to begin would be from a Coachman/Viking dealer. In the case of my Starcraft I can (and have) order a new handle right from the factory. At least contact the C/V factory either by phone or email and find out what the part number is and it's availability.

Some time back, while out on the road some distance from home, I stripped the plastic crank handle on the roof vent. Since many items on popups are generic I came onto a Coachman/Viking dealer and stopped in at their parts department and they had the little handle in stock; and the pricing was pleasantly  reasonable, too!

It is a square handle are they interchangeable?  That would be cool.
